The regal I bought, already has a metal maf tube with high flow filter on it. I plan on doing the u bend bypass as well. After that, the car will be 100% factory stock. That's the only thing I'm doing. Am I guessing correctly that superchargers act like turbos, in that when you free up a little airway before and aft, it will spin up a little quicker? If so, will I be experiencing a little more boost? (im guessing yea)
What's the factory boost setting for a 98 GS? And if there's an increase in boost due to these 2 minor mods, how much is it? What octane will be appropriate? Will a 180 t-stat help my octane requirements much?

Noone knows?

On my Impala SS which has the same engine as the GS I did as you are doing. I added a 9" K&N with a cold air intake, u bend delete with a 2.5" catless down pipe, cooler spark plugs and had my pcm reprogramed by Milzy's. The intake and exhaust work gets things flowing better but that mainly just reduces the chance for knock retard or detination which can kill an engine. I didn't see alot of seat of the pants power change until I installed a 3.4" pulley. All the other mods are basically "supporting mods" for the added boost of a smaller pulley. Don't add boost unless you open up the air flow. The mods that you spoke of are great and should allow you to see some quicker response from your engine and greater fuel milage over the stock set up but you won't see any increased boost unless you do a smaller pulley which will turn the sc faster and suck in more air at a faster rate.

so unlike our turbos, which spin up faster due to the opening up of their airways, I will never see any more boost, unless i mess with my pulley diameter? Ok. That's all i need to know. I'll have a scanmaster on their to monitor her anyway, i was just curious to see if i needed anymore octane or not. Cool. Now I know. thank you :)

Higher octain is always a necessity with any boosted engine just like our GN's. The SC is just regulated by the pulley size as aposed to a boost controller or adjustable actuator on a turbo car. My SS would stop building boost at around 8psi before my pulley change and now it pegs the meter at 10 or more psi. Just like on the turbo cars, you shouldn't crank up the boost unless you have the supporting mods to go with it. In my opinion boost is fun no matter what form it comes in.:)
