dont you sleep?:D

really i've been wondering if it would be logical to use a 6 cyl. converter from an early 700r4 and adapt it to a t/r

im talking about the lil converters like 9" or so like in a s-10 with a 2.8 motor.

would it just blow up like a balloon or would it take it for a while?

Those 245 mm cores are commonly used for high-stall applications. They cannot be used as is because of physical/dimensional differences.

Also, when performance converters are constructed using these cores, many strength enhancements are built into them; i.e. furnace brazing, stronger fronts, balloon plates, etc.

i was just thinking like we use to take the vega converters and put them behind sb's

as far as splines and hub it sould be the same right?

just the mounting lugs and crank pilot should be different if im halfway thinking correctly

if you get technical it shouldnt be any weaker than a d5 converter being its smaller diameter it should be harder to baloon than a large one its juust how much the fins can take before they fold.

id be willing to be the ginny pig just to see a crank hub bushing would take care of the pilot problem...

shoot somemore thoughts at me on this..

no, don't do it

Ask ATR how many they had fail. Not the way to go and the disc is really small. Pilot is different. Splines wont work without rebuild and the correct parts installed. I wouldn't even consider this. And as far as ballooning , one is not more suceptable than the other.
