I have had many cars with a bulge that looks like a rust bubble. I usually see it just behind the side windows. It is not rust. The bubble is solid. Was told once it was lead from when they attached the roof to the rest of the car. Is this true? Just curious.

When I stripped my car my body man did some shaving and smoothed out.

Why would lead bulge? Is it rusting underneath? Is the lead expanding? Global warming?:)

I have no idea, the joints were carppy to begin with. Some guys remove the lead and weld all together...not familiar with the process just that it's been done.

Due to body/frame flex, yes that is the area that the roof was leaded to the Qts.

The factory seams where the roof was attached to the quarters was spot welded and then filled with lead...as stated above. The seams bulge because of body flex and stress. ---Keith
