Can anyone tell me the relationship between transmission output tailshaft speed and vehicle speed? I know gear ratio, tire size, shaft teeth are related. There is no way I can limit the tailshaft speed on my project. So what I am trying to accomplish is to limit the vehicle speed so that tailshft speed will be limited to a certain speed.
I appreciate it if someone can provide me the information.

Your question is a little confusing. Are you looking for a formula? Why don't you tell us a little more about your application. That might help us understand what you're getting at.

Well I don't know which inputs I should be considering. I would need a general formula to determine. It can be a single equaltion or multiple equation. The only known factor I have is tailshaft speed needs to be 1400RPM. The rest of the unknown factors I need to make up to determine vehicle speed so I can calibrate the ECM for testing. Thanks DonWG for your help.

RPM = [mph x gear ratio x 336] divided by tire diameter.

You need to figure out tire revs per mile to calculate the mph based on ds speed. Start by measuring the exact height of the tire on the car and use simple math to get the circumference and go back through the ring and pinion. Lol, i just noticed Don posted the formula.
