Sorry Mike, I thought that was Tonys screen name. My bad.

Jason, not sure how fast I wanna go, but I like how other guys' cars have run on that turbo. I should be in the mid 10's by now, but haven't got to run the new motor.

My buddy Rodger Davis went 10.27 and ran 131 mph on an old style 70 p-trim. His build up appears to be real similar to yours. He never addressed trying to launch hard and never leaned on the motor but still ran those numbers. My uneducated guess would be that going from a 66 to a 70 p-trim would probably be a low gain upgrade for the $$'s. The GTQ turbos seam to be an interesting set up. I think I'm a little more intrigued with an actually Garrett GT though. These imports are stick shift guys and they're spooling those crazy a/r 4 bolts. I may have to try to find more info on it though because there might be some stuff I'm overlooking.

Good luck: Jason

I am guessing your buddie's 10.27 car was a lightweight........35-3700 lb cars do not go that fast without big time 60's.....as in the low 1.4's

I know Rodger too. His car is full weight. If I recall, he did have some good 60' times though.

Rogers best 60' ever was a low 1.5 with the average closer to a high 1.5. His car was a full weight minus the a/c and alum heads instead of irons. That car just ran! I did a pass in it.. about 200 feet at 12 psi.. couple hundred more at 18 psi... approx the last half at 23 psi.... that was good for 125 freakin mph! But I only ran an 11.32 in her so I still did a better ET in my car. :D Rogers car ALWAYS laid down some good mph. He has since sold it and is building a light weight Geo Metro with a stage motor. He'll probably be close to 120 in the 1/8th now.
Ask Roger aka Nashty about his car he wont B-S you, he'll tell you what he had as far as motor and stuff goes. He was running off the shelf common parts. It would have been nice to see Roger run in TSM but he was running a 4 bolt exh housing and that was the only thing keeping him out of that class. Hmmm I have 2 different buddies who did solid mph for thier set ups. They both ran 4 bolt exhaust housings and non lock up convertors....4 bolt and lock up may lead to some big mph... just a thought.

Some minor corrections. My car still had the AC in it, it just never worked and I was too lazy to fix it. Not like I ever drove it anyway... The best pass it ever had was a 10.25 @ 131 like J mentioned. That was 3550 with me in it. The 60' on that pass was 1.49, the only 1.4X it ever did. It definetly needed more stall to get out of the hole or else give it a two step and a t-brake. The convertor stalled around 3600 so I'd say your 31-200 will likely suck a little. I had the same cam you do Sam.

My Metro has a 70 GTQ, should weigh 2100 with me in it, runs a glide with an 8" convertor rated for 5100 stall. I'm hoping it spools as soon as I hit the key to turn the motor over.

We'll argue that one forever especially now that the cars gone. You car always acted like it wasnt loading the motor in first gear. You had those 3.73's in there. I know you think I'm crazy but I think 3.42's or even LOWER would have fixed your problem. You just cant build boost hard under a light load. You car had to much power for that gear. He'll if you would have ever tried 3.23's maybe you would have yanked the front tires a few times.(like me :D )

My 71 GTQ ported shroud starts to come alive at about 3200 on the T-brake. RPMS are at about 4k at 8psi and it will reach full boost (29-30) in .8 seconds after launch.

Ted,

Great numbers:) Say what converter, and size block are you running? Foot brake days with this turbo are a thing of the past?

Thanks advance for any more info.

Never tried to do it on the foot brake. I think it would do it though.

Block is .030 with stock crank and rods. 218/212 hydrolic roller.

Ted,

Thanks for the information, it will be helpful once I get my 70GTQ installed. Say, what stall is your converter?

Thanks in advance
