the difference in fuel pressure and pulse width. I understand that fuel pressure is
obvious... fuel pressure and pulse width is how long the injector delivers fuel. Where I
am confused is with changing the settings in the scanmaster. If the fp is set at 48lbs and
the car is leaning out then should the fp be turned up or should the inj. pw. be increased?
What are the different effects? Obviously this is all new to me but I want to learn so I don't hurt
anything and get the optimal performance out of my T6.

The scanmaster is for viewing data.

You need a adjustable chip, like Extender or TT chip to add fuel.

You can turn up fuel pressure but that will make the entire tune richer.

I have a TT chip. That's what i'm asking about. Making adjustments the the WOT fuel and to the 1st gear fuel. How is this different than just turning up FP?
These adjustments are made with the SM, right? KOEO, press gass pedal 3 times, etc. etc.

By changing fueling in the chip, you're changing injector pulse width at WOT. By increasing fuel pressure, you're adding fuel throughout the entire tune.

What effect on tuning/engine does the pusle width have?

Should I tune like most people recomend? ie. FP 'till KR goes away. Then from there start messing with the PW's and timing?
Thanks. Jeff

Leave the FP at 43 line off. Tune the chip for more fuel in the rpm range or gear you get knock. It might need to be overall or just one area. Don't worry about PL it's nothing you need to tune. I've never had to raise the FP at the regulator, the adjustablity of a TT chip is all that I ever needed. Raising the FP creates more problems than solves with a TT chip. Eric gets them pretty damn close so it you need to do a huge amount of adjusting something else is going on.
From Vortexbuicks:
PL = Injector Pulse Width

(Not displayed on all chips)

This shows the pulse width fed to the injectors by the ECM. This number is in milliseconds and will be somewhere around 1.6-2.1 ms depending upon the injectors used when observing idle. The larger the injector, the shorter the time it will be help open at idle to obtain the correct amount of fuel. This parameter probably has little relevance to engine operation at most times.

OK. That's where I was falling behind. The adjustment in the TT chip adds or takes out fuel.

The stock narrow band is not the greatest for tuning but if it's all you have then use it to check the fueling. Using the TT instruction, get the paramerter you want and add or subtract fuel in small incrinments to see what happens at WOT. Remember, the changes for fueling are at WOT.

Went out today. 90deg. running 93 octane and 17# of boost. Set FP to 45#.
WOT 3rd= 3.5KR. let out of it. Added 10% fuel and @ WOT 3rd
gear had only .1KR momentarily then went away. Made 3 passes
ran great. 02's were 790-800 and kr was 0-.1

Glad you got it figured out. TT chips are great tuning tools once you figure out how to use them.

Now drop the fuel pressure to 43# with the vacuum line off of the regulator. I'll bet you're still a little rich throughout the rest of your tune. If you look at the Block Learn numbers under normal driving conditions, I'll bet that they're in the 121-122 range (128 is perfect). This means that the computer is trying to remove fuel by lowering the injector PW to compensate for fuel pressure that is too high.

Turned it down to about 42.5-43 After driving for a while i started seeing BL's of 119 cruising and 135 idle. then it settled down to a pretty constant 125. I'm good with that.
WOT 3rd gear KR's went up to .7 Still less than 1. Maybe I will add another couple percent of fuel.

Just raise the third/fouth fuel a little and check it again. Your on your way now.

TT chip 5.6 only allows WOT fuel overall or WOT fuel 1st.
I added 2% more fuel over all for a total of 12%. KR top of 3rd is 0.0 93 octane 18# boost and about 85 temp outside.

Ah yes, just another reason to run a WB and 6.0:smile:
At anyrate it sounds like you got.
