heres the rest.
Remarkably the crank survived with only cosmetic damage to the counter weights! Amazing....
# 1 piston let go and took out the block cam push rods lifter valley pan etc.

That's the way to go, though. If you're gonna break stuff do it right. Big, messy no-doubt-about-it carnage. All this whining about rough idle, leaking cometics and high BLMs is amateur hour stuff. I'm embarassed to say I only blew 2 head gaskets, broke 2 pistons and bent 2 rods last time. You had to look real hard to see if there was anything wrong with it.

And this is why I ordered carrillos. I'd rather spin a rod than have this happen. Seriously though, which engin was this? The 4.1?

I've seen worse. I looked under my car and saw a cam lobe sticking out the side of the bottom of my oil pan. Only thing holding the tranny on was the exhaust crossover.

Yes a very nice 4.1, 291 casting. its in the scrap heap now-- prolly end up in China, melted down and made into a tank or armored personnel carrier:eek:

Or made into cheap knock off Walbro pumps that quit on you in the middle of a race.

Wow, tonight I will tip a 10w40 to a fallen homey...

So, What went first? The piston or the rod? Are those forged pistons? Stock rods are suppose to be pretty stout. Will knock pretty much destroy anything even if you have quallity stuff?. Sorry about your engine.

Good lord that's probably the worst pic of a GN motor I've seen on here.

I'd bet stock everything, crank, rod, pistons and does it's past have a bunch of preignition, detonation and some over revs?

Sorry to see but I guess you can build a new one even stronger now!!

They were Sealed Power Hyper pistons.
The car ran fine no major issues until six months ago #1 piston was cracked.
I bought a new inj harness and sent the injectors off to be tested. I then put the one that flowed the most on #1.
At the track I was running 3/4 tank of 93 topped off w/ 5 gal of E85 and I have alky. I fattened up the fuel to comp for the E85 car always ran great like this!
My olde sage/motorhead neighbor thinks the rod might have been tweaked or the piston to wall clearance might have been excessive on that cyl.

I had a scare last night with my o2 mv's dropping after making an adjustment I shouldn't have. Then saw these pics this morning. Immediately jumped onto Casper's website and ordered one of those screamers. I think you pushed me over the edge. Thank you. Good luck (sincerely), those pics are just down right scary.
