Chrome bumper refinish...

Need to ask a question that I'm sure has been asked before but here goes.Is it possible to blast the chrome off a bumper and re-finish it in black?My WE4 had taken a bump in the nose somewhere along the line and is a little tweaked on one side.Rather than screw with it I can grab a for free crappy,previously painted the wrong way chrome bumper.Any ideas,or "should'nt have done that stories"?

Get it powder coated gloss black. Should cost about $75.00 to $100.00 They can coat over the chrome

You should only powder over the chrome after lightly
sand blasting it. If it is good chrome. If it is peeling or starts to peel during blasting all the chrome must be blasted off first.

Thanks guys!Wasn't sure if blasting would leave pits that would leave the metal looking like cheese.
