I am installing the CK perf shift recalibration kit. I have encountered a slight obstacle. In the instructions its calls for 5 check balls to be used, and two to be removed. I have 8 check balls. The three in question are the TV exhaust, 3rd accumulator, and the 3rd clutch. So one of these needs to stay i presume...It is a stock 200r4 (1985). Can anyone advise on which one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nate

I just did one of these and the pics/instructions that came with the kit showed it, if my memory is correct. I will look and post back after dinner. Somebody may beat me to it.:)

I ended up removing the 3rd accumulator, and the 3rd clutch check balls. Part of the confusion was the TV Exhaust. I ended up assuming that since this area wasn't shown in the figure provided with the kit, that ball was left in the place. The spots where the 3rd acc. and 3rd clutch check balls would go, were empty in the provided pic, so those where the two i removed. Hopefully that is correct. It seemed to make sense when i put the plate in place.

Thanks,

Nate

Yeah i see a lot of people had removed the TV cable, which further compounded my confusion on which ones to remove, but I used the logic stated above to make my ultimate decision. Hopefully Chris will chime in here soon...

Thanks
Nate

TV ball can be left out,the TV has a spring and lever on the mechanism that move the plunger. It was a factory "fail safe" in case the TV cable broke. Most builder don't reinstall that set up.

My picture shows 4 ball that are in a row,the 1st one neat the top of the center support gets left out,the 2nd goes in the 3rd left out and 4th goes in.Sounds like you got it anyways.

Here is the pic in the manual, and I also wrote on it where the 3rd accumulator ball, 3rd clutch accumulator ball, and the TV exhuaust ball are. As stated above, I assumed that since the TV exhaust wasn't in the picture, that the other two were the ones to remove.

Thanks for feedback...

Nate

balls

Will removing these balls help any kit? Or just for the CK?

Each shift kit has different ball placement. I believe CK has some of the holes eliminated in his plate therefore no need for the balls.
