I will throw my 2 cents in here also. I drove mine daily for about 3 years. It now has about 125,000 miles on it. I never had a big problem with it. I did have the usuall old car stuff fail. Such as master cylinder, power window motor water pump etc.
The only time it stranded me was when the ecm failed. My truck is stock so that is probably why I do not seem to have as much trouble as others.
One thing to keep in mind is that they are a pain in the a@@ to work on. The engine is crowded with turbo abs etc.
I now van pool to work so my commute is about 200 yards.
I would do it if you understand these are not "toyota drive till it stop cars."
