Nick might correct me here but all you need to do is drain radiator, fill with 8oz RMI-25 and distilled water. Run it for a few hundred miles and look to see if there is crud floating on the top. Stick a garden hose in and overflow the radiator until all the floating crap is flushed out. Refill with more RMI-25 and distilled water and do the process again until radiator is clean.

Ok the dexcool is going in the trash. oops sorry "properly disposed of"

Dont see it on arizonagn site. Amazon has an 8oz bottle for $15 shipped. Is this about the normal price for it?

So, Nick, what you're saying is I can put the RMI-25 in WITH Prestone antifreeze with no problems and it'll run cooler? .....................

As to a 50-50 coolant mix, should I used distilled water, tap water or spring water? Our tap water is run through a water softener system since lots of minerals are in our water table out here in the sticks, so we used bottled water to drink,...........

So, help me out here, Nick, what's the correct water should I use? I have always trusted your judgment.
Thanks, kindly.

I agree with you Bruce, using softened or tap water has too many minerals, but I do use filtered water.

Antifreeze, or so called "coolant", has a minimal additive package and it will be exhausted after one season. RMI will supplement the antifreeze, and provide more protection as well as a surficant for better heat transfer.

In well over 30 years of dealing with many vehicles subjected the heat of the desert summer, RMI-25 is the best cooling system product I have found and used with excellent results, and I have tried them all! :)

One unique property of RMI is that it will clean the cooling system while you drive, and it will do this without any caustic or acidic additives to erode the metal items in the system, or attack the solder joints.

The best investment you can make in your cooling system will only cost $10 a year after the initial RMI-25 treatment to clean out 25 years of crud in your engine and cooling system. ;)

Good deal. You don't want any part of that stuff. If you have a perfectly clean cooling system, you can run it if whatever it is put in had it originally, without it turning to black Jello. That stuff will react badly if mixed with green coolant.

I've heard that even air in the cooling system will have a negative effect on that stuff. Plugged heater cores, leaky seals, and it works on the solder as someone mentioned.

Got the old *Conventional Green* Peak in mine. 50/50 I should put RMI in,but I'm thinking new Alradco rad for summer even tho my car runs cool.

It sure is a good thing you asked about Dex!

Nick, thanks for the heads-up and further education.....I thankfully have quite a few bottles of RMI-25 that I purchased from Mark H. a while back.
Around here, there's no desert! ( except after dinner!) So antifreeze is needed around here in Virginia instead of plain water....mater of fact, starting this coming Tuesday, for the next five days it'll be in the teens at night.
So I'll have to wash/dry my wife's Buick today. Then it's too cold for anything outside. Except for writing my name in the snow.....o_O

My wife did go out and get me some distilled water the other day while I was working on my Jeep, (man, what a sweetheart!) as per suggestion of Mr. Earl Brown....(thank you, Earl! Hey, remember that starter I bought from you for my GN? And it was YOU who led me to join this place (TurboBuick.com). Another great education for me. Earl Brown!! Take a bow, Earl!!!) (applaud noise for the next five minutes!) :joyful:

Guys, take it from Brucie here: The offer Nick's giving you on RMI-25 is a terrific deal....take it while you can....it's great stuff. I'm glad he still stocks this stuff, as it's getting pretty hard to find! Go for it. Nick is really telling it how it is........so listen to him!

Again, Nick, thanks for the education here.....I'm getting old, drastically, too fast, but never too old to learn. Appreciate it.

I'll have to agree with the Dexcool stuff......but an engineer told me to change the stuff every year, and it'll be fine...don't let it go for the 130,000 mile recommendation. Was told to flush it out every year, then replace with Dexcool. But DON'T use it on your Turbo Buicks, PLEASE! Follow Nick Micale's and Earl Brown's advice depending on what part of the country you live in. (those of you in Antarctica please disregard.)

For the last two years, the Dexcool has been leaking out from under the intake manifold on my wife's '99 Buick Lesabre Limited. The engine still runs so fine, quiet, but I've already ordered an upper intake manifold (improved to prevent the leaking) It's the the SECOND one I've ordered as I've lost the other new one in the garage and can't find it!!! (Garage is huge, things get lost quickly) ,and a lower intake manifold gasket set......but still haven't had time nor the health to take it apart yet.....since the waterpump in my Jeep quit. One frickin' connector is holding me up, have to run to the damn dealer to get it and pay a fortune for it......plus, I'm replacing all hoses, the radiator besides the pump....preventative maintenance if you will. This damn bad back is really putting a crimp on my abilities to get repairs done quickly......here I finally get the garage of my dreams, now I'm falling apart due to (check one) old age, bad back, too much beer, playing guitar too damn loud through Marshall stacks, taking care of my sick Mom a long distance away for weeks, bones creaking and breaking, too many beans, constipation, bank account draining, too fat.
