Did GM / Wells redesign the EGR? picture verification :)

Yo guys...... what the heck? I went to get a new egr and this is what i get home with....... p/n cross ref matches up but the old school one portrudes and the new one is recessed... is this going to work or do i need to go punch someone in the face at autozone?

If they both open at the same negative pressure (vaccum), I would say "use it". Not sure but I would think that the new design is less susceptible to binding as a result of carbon build-up.

i tried it anyway and when i put it on i realized apparently the valve wasnt the problem

back to autozone it goes, and tomorrow i get to try to swap the valvecover electronics to see if thats the problem..
