I have had dish network in the past but when my contract was up we went with local cable. They said they had an HD package,,,, well when we hooked it up they have 6 total HD channels:rolleyes:

What do ya recommend fella's, and why?

TIA

Dude, I logged on to start a thread to ask which is better. I'm heading to my place in NC on Wed and need to get something hooked up.

Great minds think a like huh Ty? ;)

i have DIRECTV with HD and will die and go to hell before i ever have cable tv again. so many HD channels , i cant count them. been with DIRECTV for 11years, cant live without them.

I'm not a sat. user, but the guy next door is an independent installer (does both systems).
He recommends Direct TV over Dish Network.
The newest D.TV. antennas are some of the nicest and all encompassing I've seen.
He also stated (I haven't verified this) that the D.N. system is good, but... when you order their HD package, it required a two dish installation.
One for SD and one for HD.

Something to think about.

I switched from DT to cable because of the internet service...

For just HDTV DT is the way to go...

Kinda of like a TR compared to a regular regal;)

Price wise, DN seems to be the better deal but no NFL ticket. I don't watch football so no loss to me.

Another option might be FTA (Free to air) ;)

Check out totalfta(dot)com

If you have the right dish for DN (dish 1000), you only need the one dish for HD. It has 3 LNB's to pick up the three birds. 110/119/129
Most of the HD is on 129. I can see some people adding a second dish if they already had a dish 500 with only two LNB's. You could set up another single LNB dish to get 129.

Same here, but i have only had them for 9 years.

I switched to DTV from Dish Network last Oct. I've been really happy with it, lots of HD stuff and I have a DVR now, which is awesome :D . Wasn't unhappy with Dish Network, DTV just seemed to have a better HD setup.

I pay through the nose.... but my Cable has 80+ HD channels (regular HD package), High speed I-Net, and it never goes down....

make sure you check on local channels. DISH can get them for me but DIRECT can not. Your area may not be an issue.

DTV does have way more HD. My brother has Dish & is pissed, can't even order UFC MMA fights. No Nudie channels ither. May be a Bible belt thing or Co. policy, who knows. I have DTV and can order what ever. Only 30mi. apart.

Do not go FTA as of now. They are making changes that haven't been chaught up to yet.
