Does 100psi sounds right with two M10 nozzles and Shurflo?

I currently have two M10 nozzles on my alky system and I am using a 1.6gpm Shurflo pump. I bench tested my system and I was able to get about 100psi of pressure thru the nozzles with the pump pressure switch screw turned all the way in. Does that sound about right? I expected to see a little more pressure than that but I really didn't have anything to base my expectations on so I wanted to see what others with similar set ups have seen as far as pressure. I have a 1/4" feed line and I think that could be limiting my total potental also. I am thinking I may upgrade the feed line to 3/8" to see what effect that has on the system. Thanks

Sounds low to me. There should be more pressure. But not all Shurflo pumps are created equally. And I cant offer tech on pumps I havent sold.

Also.. what does pressure have anything to do with anything. Alcohol is used to suppress knock.. too much.. it bogs.. too little it knocks. System design is critical to proper operation. Your having issues.

This is the deal with DIY. Good Luck.

I am really not having issues. My car recenlty went faster with 93/alky than it did on race gas and race chip, but like everyone else I always want more. I plan to upgrade my turbo soon and my alky system was running flat out the last time I had it out and I feel it will need more once I upgrade. I checked the pressure and it was a little lower than I expected so I posed a question to get others opinions. Simple as that. I will upgrade the line size and see if that helps and then go from there.

I was under the impression that "what does pressure have anything to do with anything" It doesn't bog and it has no knock and runs as it should. Simple as that. It was simple question to gain some infomation in order to help with future mods, not really to have a vendor tell me my system sucks when the only thing you know about my system is that it was not made by you. My system is not a DIY system but I sure that doesn't matter because it was not made by you therefore it sucks and I have issues.

I never said your system sucks. You asked if the pressure was low.. I answered. Shurflo makes "Hundreds" of different pumps.. they have different cams, different valves, different motors, etc... I do not know every model they MFG.. or what each is suppossed to do pressure wise.

Think you need to re-read my responses.

Sorry I ever responded, good luck in your endeavors.

And I am sorry I asked the question here. I just wanted others opinions and before I knew it I had issues with my system and that's the way it works for DIY systems and good luck. You make a great system and many have had sucess with it and I never had a negative word to say about you or your system but I do fell this forums is heavily slanted to your company. It seems that here if you don't have an Alky Control system and you have an issue that's just the way it works with "those" systems, good luck. I applaud you customer service with your systems, but I do feel that this forum is for other systems also and it a place for general questions.

Very well put. It would be nice if DIY users could ask questions without getting bashed on this forum.

Wow, touchy, touchy.

Julio, you are clearly an ass and all....but I'm having Kevin at KDK put your kit on my car anyways. Gee, I hope you are not this mean to ME!!!!!!!! :D

"This is the deal with DIY". Are you not putting down DIY and those who use it?
We do not expect you to help the DIY users but they should not be made to feel unwelcome in my opinion.
How can you say that you can't offer tech on pumps that you haven't sold because there are hundreds of them and then tell him that he does have a problem the pump is down on pressure simple as that. And you also say "what does pressure matter".

Spell it out.

He asks does 100 PSI sound right? I answer pressure is low. Did I have to answer, no. So he is getting tech assist for free. Do I want to get involved in trying to see why a competitors system is down on pressure. No. And did the thread starter contact the MFG of his system... who knows.. but his question was answered. Which is more than anyone else has done. Including yourself.

I am not Shurflo.. And I cannot offer tech support on Shurflo pumps. That is Shurflo's job to do so with pumps they MFG and sell. On the pumps I sell... I know them inside and out and can offer assistance properly. They have 30 PSI pumps.. they have 300 PSI pumps.. which one he has.. who knows.. but for system operation based on nozzle sizes listed for a 10 second car, his pressure is low. Maybe his pump can only do 100 PSI.. becuase it was designed to do so.. if thats the case, then he chose the wrong pump. Easy.

Now.. the big one.. What does pressure matter? This is part of system design. An engine needs X amount of fluid to be delivered to control detonation. How much a Buick engine typically needs for a 10 second time slip.. that figure I know. And it takes pressure x volume to equal a certain amount. Lets call it "C". You have nozzle size "A" and pressure "B". If your pressure "B" is low, then the nozzle size "A" has to be increased to get to the volume needed. A x B = C. If his pressure is low.. then that needs to be addressed.

System design has to do with pump used, line sizes, component placement, etc. I wont help with system design on a competitors product. "This is the deal with DIY" Just like you can ask any top engine builder what he uses for ring gap, bearing clearance, bob weight, etc.. all part of building an engine, and information that comes hard.... and costs $$$$ to obtain. So am I putting it down, no.. just telling it like it is. You do something in an attempt to figure it out. Knowing there are products in the market place that have the issues figured. So when someone embarks on doing something themselves.. they need to subject themselves to the learning process... That is why they did what they did to begin with.. was to save money.. well guess what.. it costs money to get information. This is no different. Whatever you do for a living, you dont give it away after having spent years and thousands of hours learning. Nobody I know does..

What you will get is crumbs in your quest to learn someones knowledge. This thread is all about me giving crumbs and some not being happy about it. At least I gave some crumbs away that I truly didnt have to.

What Julio is trying to say here is that the proplem with DIY kits are, knowone can offer real tech support cause knowone really knows whats in the system! even the installer of the DIY kit don't know what it has, for example: (the pumps pressure) < perfect example as a pumps pressure can cause ALOT of problems and greef not knowing. So that is why you won't have imediate or any tech support (if your lucky) on DIY kits cause of the big grey area about the kit. Hell look how long it would take someone to figure out what you truely have, and even then not everyone will know how (what you have ) is supposed to opperate. with Julio's kits, Julio knows exactly how they are supposed to opperate and there limits therefore figuring out a problem is mush easyier. Now do you understand why julio only gives his support on his product to his customers? * It just might be because he knows his kit like the back of his hand and DON'T know just anyones kit and there parts that they put together themselves!!

I understand that no one can offer tech on a DIY system without having first hand knowledge of the system but I think that also means that they can't pass judgement on the same system for the same reason. If Razor doesn't want to help out the DIY guys or guys with other systems I think that is perfectly fine, but I do feel that guys with DIY systems and other brands should be able to post in this forum without being made to feel unwelcome. I regret posting the question in this forum but I thought the question was simply enough that I wouldn't have to hear how my system has issues and that's what I get for going DIY.

Ok.. correction.. 100 PSI is perfect.. go and enjoy it ;)

Okay like you just said, "You understand that no one can offer tech support on a DIY without having first hand knowledge first" So, in your first post did you explain what psi your pump was? NO! Yet Julio still gave you an idea as to what it might be and now youv'e totally jumped to conclusions about what we think of your system, we arn't knocking DIY kits at all ! we know there are ALOT of DIY kits out there doing just fine! You can feel free to post your issues here, it is the aux injection section. and i'm sure people will try to help just as julio done, you just took him the wrong way! Try not to be so hastey next time. Good luck.
