E7012 pump users chime in

I replaced my pump on the old style SMC unit I have with the E7012, the first one lasted 5 months, the second one lasted 2 weeks... good thing for warranties. I am using methanol which some have said will kill the pump, but I would think even inline pumps such as Razors would suffer with meth running through the pump if it has internal aluminum parts. I have no idea if the internals on this are aluminum or its just what to expect from Airtex pumps. I have read of a couple guys using other fuel pumps....How has your pump held up time wise and anyone use an alternative pump ?

hopefully you're removing the screen from the pump , it wont last long in meth and although some choose to run meth smc's should have been used with straight denatured (no water) with klotz lube to protect and lube the pump , if your running straight meth without adding the lube its not going to last


as for razors pumps , his pump uses a plastic santoprene diaphragm to move the liquid , theres no metal in the pump that contacts meth , only metal that contacts meth in his kits is the nozzles and the fittings on the hoses and into the pump head and those are all brass which isnt affected by meth
and since the pump portion on his is plastic based you cant run lube or petroleum based products without causing damage to it but you can run water or a water mix with with no harm to the pump (unless it freezes)

Removed the screen on past pumps and always used Klotz lube, hope my luck changes... really think I may just have to change to denatured alky

hope this isnt a hijack but paul i have an internal pump/progressive smc alky kit. should all the smc's get klotz lube? i run denatured
