Does anyone have their car set up to shift the trans electrically? Casper had an electric setup that looked pretty nifty, as a matter of fact If memory serves John said his venom (cobra) car had the electric shifter on it.

...guess I'm getting lazy(ier) in my old age...

HOW

I am looking into that. I drive with handcontrols & definitely dont want any auto short shifts with the new combo. So anyone have info post it up for a brother :)

Is it just a shift noid? electric actuator on the shifter. I'm thinking about running CO2 for this and boost control. Maybe off the same bottle?

What I'm looking for is a setup that eliminates the shifter assembly completely.

The paddle shifter does not even do that. You would still have the shifter on the floor.

Just re-wire it to start in drive, leave it in drive, remove all the shifter hardware and you are good to go :p

Just kidding :)!

The unit I used was originally marketed by MoonEyes. They don't make it anymore, but I bought threee of them and happen to have one more new in the box. It eliminates the shifter completely, and uses a keypad, and has fail-safe features as well.

Look at THIS SITE for images of it

Let me know if you're interested.

HEY! That's my idea. I'm actually in the middle of building a system right now. I'm using a B&M Pro ratchet shifter, an air cylinder with two 12v solenoids (one for upshift, and one for downshift), a small nitrous express bottle to act as an air tank, an electric air compressor for air ride suspensions, a modified steering hub and custom paddles, and the difficult part is a circuit board the uses a current comparitor circuit to give me a seperate output for upshift, downshift and horn all using the horn wire and contact plate in the column. I've got it all up and running except for installing the shifter in the car. Here's a couple of pics and I'll get some of the actual shifter as soon as I can.
