Well, my third Jay Carter pump died. I remember someone saying that this was the same as the Ford F150 pump... does anybody know the part # by any chance, and how much it costs (ballpark)?

(I found E2157 at autozone.com but it's $127 ... for that, maybe I should switch to the Shurflo for $45??)

I'm not going to ship this pump back to OGS again...

Has anyone else had back luck with these F150 pumps?
Has anyone had better luck with the big old SHURflo?
(I am using plenty of lube and have never run the pump dry, so I don't know why it keeps dying)

Thanks!
Brendan

Brendan,

I think you and I swapped words at one time about the F-150 pump. I have a JC kit, too. The original pump died after about a year of use. Don't know why. I was using Iso or Denatured at the time with MM oil.
I heard from someone on the board that the F-150 pump was a good pump to use for an alky kit. So, I went to Checker. I think I paid around a $100 something for the pump, but it came with alifetime warranty. I was sold. I've had that pump for almost a year now, and I've fed it methanol since day one. (with MM oil, of course.) No problems yet. If I do kill it, back to Checker it goes for a free replacement!
When I compared the orginal JC pump and the F-150 pump side-by side, they appeared identical-right down to the lettering and numbers on the pump body. The F-150 pump is rated around 90/95 psi, I believe.
I don't have the p/n, but just ask for a Ford F-150 fuel pump, externally mounted. Not sure about the year, but I think late eighties/early nineties would work. The pump was a AC/Delco pump. If you'd like, I can check the p/n on the box when I get home. Hope this helps.

Do you have an O'Reilly's near you? It was $65 there! 302 fuel injected F 150 dual tank and you want the external one. That Autozone part number and price doesn't sound correct. It was like $75 a year ago!

I had one die on me after about a year, but O'Reilly's "new" version is a Walbro and so far so good!

Here ya go...

Lee,

Here's the pump #'s off the box:

AC/Delco# EP286

GM# 25117086

I got the pump from Checker with a lifetime warranty. Paid over $100, but the warranty sold me. Hope this helps.

I USE THE SHURFLO 60 PSI PUMP AND STEVEMON DIY SYSTEM. IT'S BEEN ON MY CAR FOR 2 YEARS NOW AND NEVER FAILS. PUMP IS EITHER 59 OR 69......DEPENDING IF IT'S ON SALE.
