As you probably know, when going to a 3 bar MAP for alky systems the stock boost gauge is now not reading properly. Well, how about one of these panels?? I know the stock gauge is pretty much a joke so we could even engrave something different on it like FUN METER with numbers going from 1-10. :D

This panel goes over the existing one on the main dash and can be done to look like the stock one or in our simulated aluminum or even white. So our speedo page of the site to see what we offer. Speedo Panel Kits

Mark,

I have a 3 bar MAP sensor on my car due to the Alky....would I have to get the boost LED's recalibrated to work with either overlay?

"Fun meter"....that's a good one.

Wess, as much as I know it hurts some who have overdone their engine I had to laugh at your post.

We have a stock boost guage:confused: :D

Couldn't tell you the last time I looked at it, maybe when it was still all stock:tongue:

That's just it, this overlay "recalibrates" your gauge. Necessary? Not really, just a little item to mess with peoples's heads when they look at your car.

lol

If you get butt hurt about blowing up your engine you should not be racing it or beating on it. Only person responsible is the person pushing the pedal to the floor, turning up the boost, adding a bunch of timing, etc. That is my take. I spent alot on engines and beat the heck out of them and accept it as part of racing if they blow up. Just gives you a reason to try a different combo. Part of the hobby. Atleast I was honest about the boost I ran ;) Glad you liked the pic.

No I don't get butt hurt, I know when you race a car, you're putting it under a lot of stress and if you stress it enough something will eventually fail.

That's like going to the drag strip to race your car and expecting the car to never blow a tire or something and/or not to send you into the wall...it's risky one way or another.

Mark another q: are the bottom pieces pictured part of the overall speedo overlay? Or are they two separate pieces? I looked on your page but it looks like all one piece.....????? (I didn't see the bottom pieces with just the fuel and boost/rpm lights)

If they are separate what's the price?

I'm still trying to decide if I should just do away with the factory LED tach/boost lights or leave them for nostalgia reasons.

Hey Mark....here's one for you....I don't know if it's ever been done or not but has anyone ever cut out the area where the tach/boost lights sit and in it's place put something in...like maybe an LED style wideband? Or maybe even finagled a Scanmaster in there?

Just a thought....

Looks good! Maybe when you hit a certain boost level it could say " Swipe debit card to continue" lol

you could program one of the outputs of an LC1 to run the gauge and hit whatever scaling you wanted.

Really I was thinking more along the lines of an LCD mounted where the factory boost/tach gauge is....the LCD could be for a wideband....or maybe a Scanmaster gauge mounted there though you'd need pegs to go thru the plexiglas to use it.

What's the price Mark of just the boost/ tach/ gas gauge overlay in the stock appearing look? TIA. :)

Speedo Panel Kits Lower panel only is $38 plus shipping. It is in the drop down menu.

As far as mounting a scanmaster in there, not sure if there is enough room behind that panel, might have to do some serious hacking. Don't have a speedo hanging around to check. Would think you would have to remove it from the case at least.

Mark,

I'm thinking about the possible purchase of the white faced speedo overlay and the lower white faced boost overlay to recalibrate boost LED with 3 bar MAP sensor. Can you give me a price on those two pieces? Also, how hard is it to apply the overlay? Does the speedo needle have to be removed? Can the overlay be applied with the speedo instrument cluster in place? I do know that the plastic face must be removed but I'm hoping the cluster can remain in the dash as well as the speedo needle undisturbed. Thanks!

To tell you the truth I never put one on myself. Will ask my engraver as he came up with these. All prices are on the site.

Thanks Mark. I'll wait until you have a chance to ask your engraver. Anyone out there that has done one that would care to chime in on the install procedure?

I installed the aluminum looking overlay years ago, before the 3bar map option was available. Not a difficult job at all. Pull the dash cluster trim, it just pulls out, then there are 4 1/4" (I think) screws that hold the clear cover over the speedo. The overlays have double sided tape already attached, use either a wax & grease remover on the panels or at least some windex, then just stick 'em on. For the aluminum looking overlay, I went to a hobby store & tried to find a small bottle of orange paint that would match my autometer ultralights, it came out really nice, just a quick suggestion if you're going to use the white panel, as the white needle won't show up very well.
