Fuel pump? Fuel relay?

My 87 GN is hesitating pretty bad and then making some sort of whinning pop sound? I took it to 2 different shops one says it's the fuel pump and the other the fuel relay? I am planning to replace both whats the part number for the fuel relay? and what fuel pump do you recommend the car has headers down pipe and bigger turbo everything else is stock.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure? You can also check voltage at the connection between the tank and the rear bumper. Do you have a scanmaster? It is hard to diagnose a problem by having someone discribe the sound.

Sounds like its time for some fuel system upgrades. Check to see if your fuel filter is restricted. x2 on being hard to diagnose just from a description. Could be alot of different things or a combination of things.
