I got one for my '85(about six years ago) at AutoZone. Wouldn't buy much else from them for my TRs, but- that piece worked fine!

Woody,

Out of curiosity, do these sending units ever work properly? Since the day that I purchased my car mine has never worked properly. It is constantly going back and forth and most of the time holds somewhere around 1/4 and 1/2 tank. Maybe I should be looking for one to.

hey

i have a brand new gm orignal sitting here on my desk. i bought it about 5 years ago from a board member that had about 10 for sale. anyways i wonder how much new gm ones cost if u can find any. anyways im just getting around to installing it in my car since the one in my car hasnt worked for the last 10 years i have had it. now if racetronix would hurry up and send my part that would be great.

Sent pictures of the unit i have to those who requested. If anybody else would like pictures and price let me know.

GM Sender is Discontinued

The part went obsolete about six months ago. The AC-Delco channel is dry, but there are still some sitting in local GM dealership stocks. The real bad news is that the dealers want over $400 for them. :frown:

We used to sell them for $240.

When mine went bad, the needle would bounce around too depending on how full or empty the tank was.

I bought the universal 0 - 90 ohm GM style unit from J. C. Whitney for $18 and swapped the new rehostat onto my stock hanger, it fit perfectly. Works fine after 4 years.

It came with a new float and wire arm too.

First, you should remove the fuel guage and clean out the 3 pontact pins and also check the in-line connectors. I found one in the trunk under the drivers side carpeting against the fender. Also there is another connector hanging under the rear bumper behind the license plate.

You might get lucky if you try cleaning the connector plugs first. This may be the problem. A little dielectric grease on the contacts probably wouldn't hurt either.

I am also looking for a new sending unit, please pm me the info

hey woody, do you still have the sending unit?

thx

sending unit

:( I bought one of those j c whitney units as recomended above. It was not even close to a workable fit. Maybe the new ones like I got a couple months ago are different than the old one from 5 years ago.:(

JOJO, I don't have one for sell........I am trying to buy one. Inlinetube does not have any and don't expect to restock them.........
