Going to play with E85 on a 93 alky chip and have ????

Do i really need to test the fuel rating every time i gas up? I have seen a few boosted imports doing it.

Id like to temporarily adjust my 93/Alky TT chip to use the E85 and if i like it i WILL ORDER AND TT E85 chip.

What should the WB and NB O2 numbers look like when using E85?

How do i handle cruising and idle?
Can i just put the chip on closed loop?

You will be lean. An alky chip is leaner than a regular chip. A friend of mine is running 25% 93 and 75% E85 with TT street chip. He is at 25psi, no knock. He just adjusted fuel pressure to get the extra fuel. The chip is maxxed out too because he was running more boost than it was designed for to begin with. The car went 10.7@124 with 23psi on race gas last year. He has 80lbs injectors and a home made double pumper. Wideband readings when using the gas scale are the same as gas, some even go slightly leaner.

ForceFed3.8 is right. Your chip will not perform correctly at idle, driving, or WOT. If you want to destroy an engine...go ahead. If not, just pop the $100 on a chip!

OK i abandoned the 93/Alky chip idea.

With 60# injectors, Reds Double pump and a -8 feed line, How far can i go with E85?

Do i need to switch spark plugs? Type? Heat range?

i guess i should recalibrate my WB?

350 hp with injectors static, figure 300 at 85%
pushed to edge, good launch... maybe high 12's

You will be out of injector fast with 60's. Unless you give them some fuel pressure and run a chip for gas. As far as testing the fuel goes, there can be a pretty large variation from pump to pump. I have seen anywhere from E70 to actual E85 between stations. The computer will compensate at idle or cruise, but not WOT. You also have to consider detonation threshold, but I think even E70 can handle alot. If you have actual E85, and get E70, it will be rich, no big deal, just less power. The other way will be lean and can cause damage.

Rob,
Just put in 4 gallons of e-85 the other night on top of 8 gallons of 93...Turned up fuel pressure at the regulator 5 lbs and have done a couple of pulls..22lbs of boost cutout closed AFR of 10.6 2nd pull with cutout open 24lbs of boost AFR of 11.2 ...Still spraying alky on those pulls and about 4% fuel added WOT through the translator...Ambient temp high 60's no knock on either pull!! Looking for better spool and throttle response and a litle savings at the pump...Not really interested in turning off the alky and running straight e-85 as that would require bigger injectors and an upgrade of the feedline to do it right...Just thought the op might be interested in my trial of E-85 seeeing he runs alky!!
