I currently have a D5 restalled to 2800. I've heard that it will be fine with a PT54, but slightly laggy...and I've heard I need more of a converter. Car will mainly be driven on the street with pump gas and take an occasional trip to the track with race fuel until I can afford an alky kit. Should I bump up to a 3000 stall D5...or a 10" 3200 stall....or stick with the 2800 and put the money towards alky? All opinions appreciated, sorry for a very reoccuring question.

I also had a pt54 with a 2800 stall d5. It worked ok, but when I switched to a 3000+ stall....it made a BIG difference in all around performance.

pats is not a bad converter. you can get away with the one you have now and just save for an alky kit. thats what i would do.

The PT-54 and Ta/Te61 are the same turbos. I've run plenty of them with stock D-5's as long as they are built with the Garrett .63 exhaust housing. Any other exhaust housing and it will not spool very well with a stock sized converter.

A Precision "zero-pump" is the perfect choice if you want a lock-up. For non-lock-up get with Dusty for a PTC...

First drive with the PT54 and the 2800 D5 tonight and initial thoughts are it's okay, but I want more converter. Should have the money by the end of the month for a good one. Most likely Pat's 3200 10" l/u....or Dusty, PM me with what you sell similar and suggest?

The only expeirence I have is with Dusty's PTC. I can't comment on Pat's, but as for the PTC all I can say is WOW!

Most any converter in the 3200-3400 stall range will wake that turbo up. Have fun!
