Got a letter today that really burned my ass

I would like to bring to your attention a situation that needs to be addressed
The noise emenating from your cars is a nuisance in hte neighborhood,I don't know if you are running a car repair service from your home,Which is illiegal,But whatever you are doing,I am urging you to stop doing it.it is unfair for hte rest of the neighborhood to have to listen to you revving the engines of the cars and driving around the neighborhood like a teenager with his first car
I have pets and children that are awakened by the noise and fear for their safety when you are driving around the neighborhood. One of your cars does not even appear to be registered in CT.
This was a nice,quiet neighborhood until you began to act like you have the right to make all that commotion and disrupt everyone around you.It is unfair and I am appealing to you to stop it. I don't want to have to take furthur action but unless you cease these actions,I will be forced to.
I don't mean to cause you problems,Butit is about time you started to respect your neighborhood and neighbors. You do not have the right to disrupt our peace and quiet and it needs to stop. Thanks very much.

Now i got to say im floored,I can understand the noise,But f,um.! I pay taxes and pay my mortgage and ill run my car if i want to.
I dont run it late at night or early in the morning.Rarely on a sun.
Yes i have spooled it up against the 2 step.
But i DO NOT drive around the nieighborhood like a teenager with his first car.
I drive so slowly to get out of the neighborhood whick is only a 1/4 mile to the main rd,Even there i do not throttle the car. Nor do i drive down any rd but mine to get their(they return addressed it a rd next to mine)
But man no balls!!! sign your name or just stop by with your concern.
I understand the noise and i do run some friend cars here also,That will stop.
But i refuse to not run my own car in my own driveway.
Just venting,Man this got me burned up!

ya i know how you fell. i use to know all the cops in my area because i had one neighbor that had a problem with cars. damn some people are stupid. let them take further action you are not braking the law in anyway if your post is true. let them call the cops you and the cop might have a good laugh at how dumb so people are.

Man that sucks!!! In the early 90's I lived in a condo in Ellington CT. I worked 2nd shift at the time, so I usually came home around 11:30pm. I would always back in to my spot and then let the car idle for a couple minutes(87 Turbo T). Well one day I get this letter from the condo assocation telling me that they've got 'A' complaint that I was coming home LATE at night(duh, I worked 2nd shift!!! ) and revving my engine!!??, and making a lot of noise and for me to cease this activity or face "further action". Well, that was enough for me. NO MORE FREAKING CONDOS FOR ME!!! Can you believe the balls!! Man, I still get **ssed thinking about it. When I knewwe were moving out EVERY NIGHT was NOISE night if you know what I mean.....:wink: So I know how it feels KLHAMMETT. I never did find out who the ***hole was but that never did matter to me as all the snobs paid for it. I use to go out of my way to be quite, and be a good neighbor and that's what I got for it. I think if that were to happen today, and me owning a home now I would go talk to my closest neighbors to find out what the deal was. If none of them fessed up to it, I would just laugh it off i guess. Hope it works out for ya...........Ken B.

I'd find out just what are the laws in your area. Then when and I do mean when the "law" shows up you are prepared with some answers for their questions.

I'd disregard the accusations until something else shows up. And when it does first question would be why no balls.

Heres the problem: The law will probably side against you. I'm not saying its fair, but the actual law on noise and such is BS. I have 2 friends in my present neighborhood with hot rods, well one hot rod and one race car. The race car was a blown alky 69 camaro making around 1500 HP. Yes, it was loud. But we only started it around 5-6 P.M., and never drove it. The cops came over every time we started it up. We got noise violation tickets. We tried mufflers, they lasted 4 seconds and the car blew them off and accross the street. I got sh!tty with the cop once, because I highly doubt it was hurting anyone. The actual law was that no one should be able to hear anything past the street. So if you can hear your neighbors car run, its in violation. I placed about 50 noise complaints right there with the cops. I heard the neighbors talking outside, I heard their toyata 4 runner leaving, I heard the kids playing, etc. The cop finally agreed it was BS, the laws the law.


I'm moving in a couple weeks to an upper class area and they have a HOA. I just ordered new mufflers, bullet style, for my 800+ HP camaro street car.


My neighbor is a state trooper.

As long as your not working on other peoples cars they cant do $hit. My a$$hole neighbor across the street once accused me and my friends of driving recklessly on the street. This was total BS. He stated he would sue if someone injured his kid who by the way always was playing in the street. I find it funny that his wife and one other backed into parked cars in the street 3 times. What if they backed into a kid playing in the street? I pretty much told him off and that they need to be more concerned with being more careful backing out of their driveway and to get off my case. No word since. If you want to piss off your neighbors dont mow your lawn for a month in the late spring so you have a jungle for them to look at.

Got a similar situation with my sons band and the next door neighbor. Research the law, it is probably on your side.(It felt good to slam the door on the dipsh1t after I recited the law to him and the sherrif confirmed it)

Cop friend in hte next town over said the noise is really at the descretion of the officer.
But he cant do anything unless he actually hears the noise be complained about,If he hears,It up to him to wha he considers Exxcesive noise,But be a prick and you can be arrested for breach of peace.
But you can fight it and win.
I cant think there is any law tha will not let me run my car in my driveway in the middle of the day.

If the cops want to hang around my neighborhood they will see i do not drive any ffaster the posted limit.My street is a 1/4 mile to the main rd all curves.

The old lady across the street from me sends me notes like that! The best is when a friend of mine parked in front of her house (legally). She came out of the house and threatned him. Told him he was breaking the law and she was going to slash his tires. Funny thing is that he is a police officer in my area

I cant stand neighbors like that. I'm lucky mine are all pretty cool. but i do work on all their cars for free The only one i had a problems with was friends with my x wife.she would call the cops when ever i was outside working on cars. the last time she called. the cop showed up and laughed because it was his moms car i was working on:biggrin: . she moved out now evrything is good. but they are starting to put up $700,000 houses down the street so i am going to be finished soon.:frown:

Let me be the devils advocate here and ask you to put yourself into a hypothetical situation.

Lets say you have a neighbor that likes to play cRap music as loud as your car from time to time at the same times your cars make "noise"

Would you be upset?


I only say this because I have had to deal with inconsiderate people in the past, from being in the military living the barracks life to now living in an apartment.

Alot of people have this idea that their "**** don't stink" and get highly agitated no matter how politely you ask for consideration when they are doing something that is making your life miserable. I cant tell you how many times this happens in a military barracks when for instance you have to get up at 3 am the next day to go to the range and some "gentleman" is blasting music or making a raucous till late at night.

This is not to say there are not people who have an exaggerated low tolerance for things and just want to F' with you over minutia. Those people exist, but I think for the most part, people dont want to bother other people unless they are being bothered.

The question you have to ask yourself is, are you in the group of the former?

Lord knows I have probably aggravated neighbors in the past with my car hobbies, and im not gonna say I havent pulled into my garage with an open dump at night.

Am I gonna be pissed as all get out if someone confronts me about it? No, because I am well aware of the inconvenience I may be causing someone and have no problem owning up to it.

Im not judging you or accusing you of anything, just giving a different perspective maybe.

When ever my neighbors have partys even till late at night i dont bother them,They dont do it everyday.
But i dont run my car everyday,****,It hasnt run for a year and a half and i just got it running a few weeks ago and only ran it 3 times since.
And when i run it,its like maybe 10-20 minutes tops.

Its not an all day thing,I dont do it after 6 o clock,I dont do it early in the am.

Sat was the first time i ran it since i drove it to the dyno about 4 weeks ago.

So its not a consideration thing,If i cant run wy car every now and then,What the ****???

There are people that mow their lawns at 7 am on a sun!!! Thats freaking annoying,But you know what,Its their house,their lawn,So i dont bitch!
