Was thinking of installing a GPS devise in my car in case it gets stolen. The price of the units I have looked at are not too bad, but the monthly fees to allow you to track on line run between $35 and $45 a month, seem a little steep. Anyone had any experiences, good or bad with using something like this?

Thanks

I was thinking of signal sent to my phone alerting me of entry then I can just call another number to phone hidden in the car setting off an IED...or at least turning on washer pump hidden in the trunk thats full of pepper mix running through line inside headliner trim to little squirter angled at the eyeball of the punk who thought it would be an easy steal.

Very innovative, kind of like a 2 for 1. You find your car by riding around listening for screams of pain, you have your car and revenge.

Thanks

i think there is a device that hooks up to a prepaid that calls the moment it detects entry.. would be good if car is parked at mall or somewhere out of sight but still within easy reach... of course i dont park it at malls

I don’t do the mall thing either. However the possibility of being car jacked exists and you being dumped out. If that happens then you for sure would know the door was opened, but the car is gone and no way to track it.

That is where I was going.

Thanks

When we bought our new car, we had GPS tracking installed. Guidepoint serviced it..

Cost around $200 a year, and allowed us to track it from their website some. This was 5yrs ago.

Could ask your cell carrier.. may be able to just add a line, and add GPS tracking to it (Can with AT&T at least). Then just wire the phone to the car.

It'd cost me $25 a month, and I could track 2 of my phones.. so my teen daughter would be up S@!TS creek too... lol.

Insure the car for agreed value, wire an IED under the seat.. Sit back and wait!
AIRC, there was a movie about something like that. The perp kidnapped the guy's wife, he traded the Jag and a pile of $4 for his wife. He made the trade on a bridge, locked the doors, and the stereo came on, telling the perp, ADIOS!! :O)

That's terribly steep. There are cheaper units out there the last time I looked which was last year. It was also cheaper if you payed for the whole year at one time vs. month to month.

I use a GPS Snitch, now called Blackline, I believe. It has a motion sensor, and another alert that notifies you if the car leaves a 30M area, I think it is. I get alerts on my cell, home email, and my work email, and can track the car at any time. I can't remember the fee at the moment, will have to look it up

No monthly fees...ever. You only use it when you need it and it comes with like 200 uses. Then you can buy more as needed.

asrnj77,
Do you have one of the units? It appears that e mail alerts are all you get (their demo link appears not to be functioning) and that you cannot track it on line.

Thanks

Or a big steak knife that comes up thru the drive seat bun.
