Hard shift from park

I got my new trans installed and finally popped the driveshaft in, tell me, why would it shift hard from park to where the tires squeal a lil?

High pressure. Do you have a gauge on it? I was advised to use two wave springs in the low/rev to "cushion" the shift from neutral to rev and forward.
Yours might not have been built with this mod.

I don't have a gauge on it and it's just a stock trans. Is there anything I can do about this? it can't be normal

BRF calibration has a harsh drive/reverse apply. It will be worse if the pinion has lost its preload or sloppy u joints.

Possibly the wave plate was omitted from forward? Check line pressure at minimum tv first
