HELP/IDEAS, code 31, blowing fuses!!!!

I have seen some other threads related to this and have been on the hunt for the problem for a few weeks but no luck. Anyone with any input on your expieriences or references for this problem is greatly appreciated. I am blowing the ECM/SOL fuse which is in the upper right hand corner of fuse block. The fuse blows as soon as the key is turned on. My scanmaster then shows an error 31 and the SES light comes on when boost is built up of course. I have unhooked the purge canister, egr, brake pedal switch, wastegate selenoid all at once and same thing happens. I believe all of these things are on same fuse. I am assuming I have a short but could in be another swich/selenoid? Anyone with places to look for shorts? I have checked the obvious and do not know where to go next. I have also noticed that my manual turbo boost controller on dash is not working now also and could this be related? Also any way to wire around boost selenois so I can exceed 10 lbs of boost until I figure this out??? THANKS, Kent

Wastegate solenoids rarely go bad. One question: did you unhook the upper brake switch connector too? The one for cruise control with the vacuum line on it? It has a pink/blk wire and a purple wire. This powers not only the tcc solenoid (whole different story I just lived through) but the a/c relay. The a/c relay is the first relay on the passenger fender right behind the MAP sensor. Unplug that and see if the fuse stays intact. Then you can move onto maybe the a/c compressor plug which is low on the compressor on the left side of it. It has a diode on it that can touch and short out.

Takes about a minute to unlpug both relays and see if the short goes away.

Try that first.

still blowing fuses

Thanks Salvage V6 and John L. I tried the a/c relay and the air compressor plug with no luck. I also unhooked both brake switches too! STILL blowing fuses??? When they blow they go fast and hard because you can see and hear them blow when key is turned on. I am still searching! Any other ideas? THANKS

Hate to hear you're still going through this. I know how it feels. Only thing I can really think of is to leave the fuse out and hook a digital multimeter set to ohms on the circuit side of the fuse. When the other lead of the multimeter is connected to a good ground, you should see 0.00 ohms or very close, maybe 0.02-06. This would indicate you have a wire that is grounding out somewhere since you are completing the ground with the multimeter. Now couple this with another attempt to find the fault: make a list of what isn't working with the ECM/SOL fuse out. Drive the car around and see if the a/c doesn't work, if the trans doesn't lock up in 4th, if the windows won't work, etc. Write down everything that doesn't work. Then unplug everything that doesn't work. Now see if the multimeter reads 0.00. If it does then there is something still grounding on the circuit that you haven't found yet, but you've eliminated a bunch of stuff already; however, the list is getting shorter.
