Weird why history channel calls it different, glad you were able to find it.

No problem, just glad I was finally able to watch what this whole tread was about.

Guess when there is no limit to your pockets you can tear up cars like they did on that episode.

They definitely must have alot of sponsorship money to be able to take a chance on playing with fire by beating up on a Turbo Regal that is far from stock. Glad to hear you got to watch it finally.

I was actually shocked that they left out the 5.0 Mustang. Admittedly, it did a good job keeping the performance car flag flying in the 80s. Gave all the 5 liter F-bodies fits until the 5.7 became an option.

Plus, Turbo Buicks have always had a healthy appetite for horse meat. :hungry:
The 5.0 fox body cars gave 5.7L chevy owners fits. Even with almost 40 inches displacement given. I remember many more brutal 5.0 cars than 5.7 powered f bodies

My guess is it appeared adam, tanner and rutledge picked cars that appealed to them from the 80's. Even if they had a higher budget to each spend to obtain a car, i dont think you'd of seen a mustang 5.0 gt from the 80's on that particular episode if they each truely decided what they were gonna drive.
I can't imagine how the suma event would of turned out with a 5.0 vs the GN, although the lower nose body kit on the mustang 5.0 might not of survived the stress unscaved. Guess we may never find out how something like that would turn out. Traction and torque were really what mattered in that crazy stunt anyways, it was hilarious watching rutledge with the mr-2 trying to push the GN and just spinning his little tires going nowhere then adam starts up the GN & quickly sends the mr-2 out of the ring without any struggle. I find it interesting that the mr-2 didn't struggle as badly against the camaro though before eventually tanner shoved rut out of the ring. I know the GN had drag radials on the back, but didn't the camaro weigh about the same as the TR's?

It was bought just for this episode and Adam did pay more than 5K but less than you would expect. It blew a head gasket and is sitting in the Top Gear parking lot.

I'm on the road I'll post pics when I get home I think I have a couple of shots of under the hood.

He is a big fan of the turbo Buick but obviously not much experience with them.

Sure the GN could have been better represented but it's top gear USA they don't take things too seriously, if it was british top gear they would have ripped the GN for everything it,is not.
Otherwise I always enjoy watching a,GN getting some exposure, maybe just maybe one day we can goto car shows and cruise ins and not asked the idiot questions :)

Hopefully he gets the GN fixed and doesnt let it sit too long.
He probably paid between 5200 and 7000 for it. Which would be below what it could fetch.

He was tempted to buy it himself, but passed hopefully Top Gear won't let it sit.

Since he passed on it and top gear owns it, then maybe someone with the money to buy it and get everything fixed properly should attempt to see about acquiring off the show.

I think any spot light on our cars is good....its hard to tarnish the name of a Grand National....they are known as bad ass and this show is not at all going to hurt the rep!..........

Still its a TV show and its entertainment and I enjoyed seeing the car! Watching the car go down the road.....I thought to myself....".damn that is a sick looking car......oh yeah I got one sitting in my garage....sigh.....lol"!

Couldn't agree with you more.
It was kind of BS that he bought it with $5000 but his answer was cool-"I got a guy". He was pretty funny too. To me the best line was when the GN was in the car wash and Rutledge said "that's a nice looking car". Amen!

A few production still shots from the TG episode, I didn't take any of,the pics.
Looks like a sweet set up, guess he should've been watching , the SM.

They should have contacted some members of this board for a "tune up". That car looks like it has about as much as my car in the 6265 thread.

Yeah unfortunately you don't buy one of these, gas it up, and go. I'm guessing it ran out of Alky and he hurt it bad. What a shame. It will probably rot in the History Channel parking lot. I was all excited to watch the show and was let down. That was a sweet car that went to waste. I was also pissed about them calling that non-TPI car an IROC.
