How do i remove the window trim/moulding around windshield and rear window?

Hey guys, I need to know the correct way to remove the windshield and rear glass trim. This is the blacked out trim that goes around the perimeter of the glass. when the guy who painted it took off his masking tape, he simply used a exacto knife and slit right down the trim. when he did this, he succeeded in removing the tape, but also cut the factory paint over the metal, and it has been peeling at his marks where he did this. i just wanna take em off and spray paint em so they look better. thanks for any tips.

go to a automotive paint store, they sell the window trim tool

it looks like a T with hooks at the end to grasp the factory clips, and pull them away from the chrome/black trim

i got one of these. it works on my GS, but on the T, there is some type of sealing black felt or something around the trim on the windshield. i dont know where to get this stuff , and dont want to damage it trying to remove the trim. anything i should do with the felt stuff?

i know what your talking about-

if the tool is thin enough, slip it in on one corner and work your way to the other side

that thin rubber stuff makes it a little tough to slip it under, but if you get the right spot, then it works fine--

i use that same tool for the old 67 bird, and also for the turbo regals- only diff is that rubber piece that farthest from the paint of the car

JUST PUT THE TOOL UNDER THAT LINER AND UNCLIP THE MOULDING. WATCH YOU DON'T SNAG THE GLASS, YOU COULD BREAK IT. IF YOU DAMAGE THAT LINER, YOU CAN DISCARD IT. NO ONE WILL NOTICE NOR WILL YOU. ALSO, THE RETAINER CLIPS ARE PLASTIC AND YOU MAY BREAK SOME AND HAVE TO REPLACE THEM. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE PAINTER WOULD PAINT THE CAR WITH THE MOULDINGS IN PLACE.
