I just got back from BG and I had numerous people come up to me and verify that I drove my car from IA and raced it every day Wednesday through Saturday. My buddy and I had our bags in the back seat and the trunk carried my race tires/jack/tools/parts and everything else I needed to race. I was nervous about the trip at first, even had a buddy with an enclosed trailor on standby in case it didn't go well, but driving it there, using it as my golf cart at the track, using it as my taxi at night, and just driving it like a car really got me thinking. I'm working on a new combo now and was going to trailor it to BG again when it's done next time to avoid the stress, but I think it's fun to drive and race. With this in mind, I have goals to drive it to BG, race it every day, and run 9's on pump gas and alky. 10.50s is the immediate goal, but 9's is the long term goal regardless if it's been done or gets done before me.

My survey question to all the Buick racers out there is: what's the furthest you've ever driven to a race and what did you run when there?

I drove 600 miles to BG, did 16 passes over four days with a best ET of 11.343@119.56 (on my last pass of the last day of racing not too long before they closed the track)

What's your story? I'm really interested to see who the road warriors are out there with details.

Thanks! I appreciate the input.

IF i ever get mine dialed in and I feel all is well with the car I will drive mine to BG from west of St Louis. If I have an issue I can rent a truck and trailer to bring her home. I dont know if I would make the trip to NC in the car though just to keep the miles off of it.
As it is now I wouldnt drive my car far from home, just dont trust it yet.

When my car was running mid 10s I would drive it anywhere, anytime. Drove around on the Mickey Thomspon drag radials and just air down and add c16

Cool. What was the furthest you drove and raced?

I drove my street car from San Diego to Las Vegas which is about 325 +miles and ran low 10's. I drove it home and was able to make it from the CA / NV state line to my house on one tank of gas. That was back in 2002. When the car was much closer to stock back in 1995 I drove to BG one year and ran 12 teens and drove it home.

I've driven both my cars to the closest drag strip and ran both for many passes and drove them home. About 2 hours one way. Last June black car made 4 passes very close to 140mph on 93/alky before I got shut down for safety equipment/comp license.

I always drive to the local tracks. It's a little over an hour each way. Have a truck and a trailer at home, but I like to drive the car to the track for fun. Last weekend at Byron she ran a 10.3 @ 132 and a 10.4 @ 132. Spare tire, jack, and toolbox in the trunk.
