I just got back from BG and I had numerous people come up to me and verify that I drove my car from IA and raced it every day Wednesday through Saturday. My buddy and I had our bags in the back seat and the trunk carried my race tires/jack/tools/parts and everything else I needed to race. I was nervous about the trip at first, even had a buddy with an enclosed trailor on standby in case it didn't go well, but driving it there, using it as my golf cart at the track, using it as my taxi at night, and just driving it like a car really got me thinking. I'm working on a new combo now and was going to trailor it to BG again when it's done next time to avoid the stress, but I think it's fun to drive and race. With this in mind, I have goals to drive it to BG, race it every day, and run 9's on pump gas and alky. 10.50s is the immediate goal, but 9's is the long term goal regardless if it's been done or gets done before me.
My survey question to all the Buick racers out there is: what's the furthest you've ever driven to a race and what did you run when there?
I drove 600 miles to BG, did 16 passes over four days with a best ET of 11.343@119.56 (on my last pass of the last day of racing not too long before they closed the track)
What's your story? I'm really interested to see who the road warriors are out there with details.
Thanks! I appreciate the input.
