Guys...I'm so sorry for asking for help with this but I am more confused with every post I read on turbo selection. My old TE-60 has a stripped exhaust housing bolt at the downpipe. The turbo just started leaking/burning oil as well. Bottom line is I think I need a new turbo.

Goal: Solid 10's (10.80's) on alky and drag radials. No race gas period.

Combo:
Stock 109 with steel main caps
Champion ported iron heads/ported intake/70mm upper
210/215 hyd roller cam/1.65 roller rockers
TT alky chip with 60lb injectors
Front mount intercooler
3" TH style downpipe with internal wastegate provision
Stock headers/2.5" stainless cat-back exhaust
I will have a WB02 along with other supporting mods and tuning tools
***I will be replacing the transmission soon so converter can be upgraded to match when I pull the tranny.

I know all turbos have their sweet spots with different combos. Remember, I'm going to be limited to how much boost I can run with methanol. I've read some really impressive times from Grumpy (Dan) and Melissa. I have the patience to tune, I just don't know which one to buy. If anyone has any suggestions on proven turbos, I'd greatly appreciated it. Thanks and have a great holiday weekend!

Thanks for the fast reply. I've been looking at those tables all afternoon. There are so many choices. I just re-read Melissa's "secret recipe" on the other site and he listed a Precision 67 DBB. Do you happen to know if that model is still around or what the new replacement unit is? I can't stress enough how impressed I am with their combo. I know her car is much faster than my goal. However, there is something to be said for not having to beat my car to death to run some 10.80's. Anyway, thanks again for the reply.

Hmmm, 10.80's all day.... I'd go with the New Billet Journal 6265E from Precision.

I've been reading some good things about that one. Do you think my goals can be accomplished at boost levels under methanol?

I'm not sure about the billets, but if it's a street car def go with the ball bearing option. I think a 67 dbb should do the trick.

I'm leaning in that direction since it will carry me as fast as I can imagine going with my 109 block. If I go that route, am I looking at something in a 6765 variety?

I believe you could easly run in the 10's on 22-24 psi, good tune though.

My car did the following at "Arm Drop Live" about 4-5 months ago.

First pass - Ran an 6.80 with a 1.76 60ft. Car was all over the track past the 60ft, got in and out of it a couple of times and shut it down due to some knock. Still went through at 93 mph though.

Second Pass - Ran an 6.62 with a 1.54 60ft, the car felt really good out of the hole and was a handful again past the 60ft. After getting it under control, looked at my o2milvolts and knock was 15 something. I got out of it and coasted through at 91 mph. This knock later turned out to have cracked #1 piston:redface: I believe I have a crappy fuel pump as everything else checks out.

You can easily get 10's out of the 6265E turbo. I guess it all depends on what you goal are and how fast you want to go later on down the road. Just remember to have that bottom end built.

Here's the new listing with all the correct model numbers.

And yeah, I would consider a forged combo for the bottom end as well

That's pretty much why I set my goal at 10.80's. I've got another block that I'll eventually build up with all the forged parts and a girdle. Ideally, whichever turbo I go with will satisfy my current and future goals with either block.

Well the new BB Billet stuff likes to live at 30+psi in the bigger turbos. That is a must to consider...

A non billet 67BB would be as nasty as you ever want on a 109 in most cases... You can get away with a good street-able stall and it will pull like a damn freight train, ask me how I know:biggrin:

That's what I wanted to hear. Are these still available and if so, how much do they typically run in price?

With a ported intake you should fair pretty well with 67DBB. Those things look mean and lean.

I personally am gonna run ported irons with a stock cam/ported stock intake and I chose a TE45A because it will run fine around 25-27psi, which is right on the edge of where I can push it with 91 octane and alky.

I have just about the same setup as you just without the cam, and I am using 50lbers. My goal is high 10s on kill mode, 11s all day without a worry.

Just remember the bigger turbos love high boost, so if you are running just alcohol you will have to turn down the timing if you go high in boost.

Perhaps look into a Gen 2 for tuning. You can plug in your WB into it as well.

I installed a bilet 6765DBB on a car yesterday and at 24 PSi with pump gas and alky it flat rocks. We took of a Turbonetics 70 ptrim BB and this one spools much faster and leaned out the car quite a bit. We will put it on the dyno soon with both turbos and post the results but you can't go wrong with the billet 67
