this couldn't have come at a WORSE time...my car has been sitting for almost 3 weeks while i have been working on it and i REALLY thought i was going to FINALLY get to drive it again, but no, the last piece in this puzzle of an engine does not fit....hopefully ATR will be helpful in fixing this, i am sure they will do their best...guess I'll find out tomorrow

anyone else have this problem...my original piece fits ok but this obviously don't.....any suggestions?

hey

hey man that really sucks i had the same thing happen to me on my car so i had to take it to a exhaust shop and have them cut it and fix it. the only reason i can figure why it didnt fit on my car was because of the poston headers and the Ta-54 turbo. when i had my stock setup stock headers and turbo it fit great so i think thats where the problem lies. i fell for you man i have a brand new up-pipe sitting at my house because it doesnt fit. i figured i would save it for the next hot-air i buy.

What ever happened? I bought one of ATR's pipes.........put it on my car........looked bout like your pics. Tried to pull everything together..........ended up bending one of my up pipe to header bolts........which in turn broke.........which in turn led to me tearing my car down. Thought it was all the welding that had been done on my header but now I'm worried

I sent ATR my complaint via email last night(b/c i couldnt wait till 8AM to call them and b!tch  ) well i check my mail this afternoon and get this response....

"STEVE,

THE '84 UP PIPE IS ONE TRICKY SON-OF-A-GUN TO INSTALL. KEEP IN MIND THAT T304 STAINLESS HAS AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF SPRINGBACK, WHICH MAKES FOR AN EXCELLENT SEAL, BUT A PAIN TO INSTALL. BEGIN THE INSTALL BY TIGHTENING THE BOTTOM FLANGE FIRST. NOT TOTALLY TIGHT, BUT ALMOST. THEN, TIGHTEN THE TOP THREE BOLT FLANGE UNTIL ALMOST SEALED, USING THE THREE BOLT GASKET. THEN GO BACK AND COMPLETELY TIGHTEN BOTTOM FLANGE. NEXT, GO BACK TO THREE BOLT FLANGE AND COMPLETELY TIGHTEN. AFTER YOU DRIVE THE CAR, LET IT COOL COMPLETELY AND GO BACK AND RETIGHTEN BOTH FLANGES.

CALL IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.

SHERRI "

I was lauging out loud when i read this....i was like did you look at my pictures? 304 is "flexible"??!??

well anyways i wandered out to my car and thought what the hell and gave it a whirl and I'll be damned it closed right up:eek: !!! Given it took a little planning and strategic torque to get it to seal and sit properly but it is now sealed up and MY CAR IS FINALLY RUNNING AGAIN!!!! just thought i'd fill ya's in b/c I was never badmouthing ATR and i didnt want anyone to get the wrong idea b/c the piece is top quality!

Sherri is top notch at ATR and I'm glad it worked out for you , we actually had an issue with our cross over and they were great and took care of the situation. ATR are good people.

ATR WEBPAGE?

Does ATR have a web page, or an online catalogue? I have been dreaming about the ATR system for my car, but I dont know how to contact them. Thanks!
