Well, it is terrible but I spend 6 months a year in Puerta Aventuras and it's great. You can find trouble anywhere in the world, you lay down with the dogs you're gonna get fleas. But I feel more secure here than many places in the states, i.e. New Orleans, Riviera Beach Florida, Charlotte ect... That being said it's horrible what is going on and the news media in the states doesn't report all of it. I read the local papers here and there is much more going on drug war related away from the border.

I live in San Diego and you almost never hear about the violence in Mexico on the news. I think they're afraid it will scare the tourists away. With that said I agree with captflash I've been on a lot of nice vacations to Mexico over the years. I figure trouble is everwhere, if you go looking you'll find it. I know that inocent people get caught up in the crossfire of the drug wars but more often than not they are taking each other out. It's pretty greusome but they are probably doing a public service the way I see it.

What Captflash said. I own a house since 2005 in Playa del Carmen, been going there for the past 20 years, and have never had or seen an incident. Granted, it's a tourist area, but I have never felt anything but safe in that part of Mexico. I'm there a dozen times a year at least, safe at night, great weather. Now Mexico City, well, that's a different story...

This pretty much happens in certain parts of mexico not tourist areas like cancun, puerto vallarta etc. Long as rich snobs are getting there mai tais and margaritas served by the poor common folk no one is gonna give a shit. Look at the mass genocide that goes on in Africa or Burma nobody even knows that its happening. I havent visited my family in certain parts of Mexico because of the shit Ive heard from friends and family. It needs fixing but like I said more need to care about others than just themselves.

I'm pretty sure I'm not rich or a snob. If I was I probably wouldn't be playing around with 25 year old Buicks. It would be Porsches or Ferraris instead.

Your point is not valid. With the way I'm going I could have bought a decent Porsche by now  Ferrari 348's and 355's can be had pretty cheap too.

I've heard enough bad stories from personal friends that keep me from wanting to step foot in Mexico. None of them involve the drug cartel though. Just stories of dealing with corrupt cops and food poisoning.

As long as you go where it's safe, Mexico is a great place to visit. Just like I wouldn't walk around some parts of Chicago, I wouldn't walk around certain parts of Mexico either. The tourist places are 100% safe in Mexico, that's their bread and butter.

We prefer tortillas with butter :)

I've got some Mexican friends that have stopped going back home every year becuase of the drug violence. Their brother, who was a police officer in their local town was tide to a bumper and drug around town by the gangs just to make a point. It's bad in some areas. I dont know why we worry so much about countries that are across seas when we have a bordering country going to the pisser.

I am not going to watch the video you posted, I am not into heads being cut off and throats slashed.

Post that again and you will be banned permanently.
