Its A Shame Thread

I don't know if this counts or not, but it's not a Buick....

A guy I have known for almost 20 years owns this 69 Camaro:

It needs quarters, rockers, fenders, header panel, an engine, a transmission, the entire interior needs replaced and I'll bet even the floor pans need replaced.

The guy that owns it won't sell it unless someone gives him $6k, he lives with mom/dad and works when he wants to (which is seldom) so he never has the $$ to fix it. Meanwhile it just continues to sit and rot away.

This is a '62 Chevy II that has been rotting in this field behind my parent's house since '88. It's pretty much a basket case at this point.

This makes me sad every time I go into my garage because it's not in paint yet. (15 years)

You guy's are killing me !! I want to puke. I wish I had the money to start and old car rescue !! My T-type sat for 6 years before I saved it. Sad....:(

Just for the sake of this thread I went out to the top secret location today and got pics of the 69 roadrunner. Back in the day this would have been a beauty. teal with black interior four speed car with the N96 ram air hood option. Dad bought this car out of a salvage yard. I'm not sure why. Lots of good parts (including the uber rare ram air scoop assembly and four speed conversion parts) but it's not cost effective to restore it. Technically I think it's for sale.

If you look close in the background of the secod pic you will see the roof of the 59 dodge wagon that I had pictured earlier. It was one of the cars saved from that old guy's yard.

There's a lot more rotting classic car pics to be found by CLICKING HERE

I absolutely love that site, but this thread is special because it's cars that TB members either own or have found. At least that's my interpretation. I will end my massive mopar hijack with pics of my dad's first car. It is the reason I exist. Dad bought this 65 Sport Fury out of a junkyard when he was a teenager and fully customized it in the 70's. He worked in mom's hometown and she had her friends arrange a meeting so she could ride in it. That is how they met. Had a dual quad tunnel ram on a built 383 and magnesium slots back in the day. Dad wanted a convertible so he cannibalized it for hard to find parts instead of restoring it. To anyone else it's just a rustbucket C body but to me, "it's a damn shame".

I;m glad you liked it. They are paid for. My children have staked claim to them so I can't see them getting sold by me or the children.

I like the GNX buried in there. Give the guy some encouragement from me!

Now we know why the NHRA treats a t-top car as if it were a convertible.

BTW make sure you save those t top plates.

This was my first turbo buick that I bought as a project. Spent a ton of time chasing rust on this thing only to sell it for what I paid for it. It had over 350,000mi on it and the bottom end was supposedly never done. It ran nice and pulled very very hard, but was no show car. I actually sold it to a board member and someone pulled out on him and the car was totalled.

Drive safely. Not my current car, but one that was much stronger. A moment of inattention can almost kill you. Be careful out there!

Neither of those cars look 1/2 is bad as the one my wife put on it's roof then back on it's wheels. Dropped and chased a cherry tomato and took it off road.:( She was very lucky to have survive, I'll get some pics up.....
