Just bumped into a fellow TR owner, and was asking what he was doing for fueling. He explained to me he uses a 4:1 ratio gas to kerosine and 2oz of 2 stroke oil per gal of kerosine. :O He explained to me that he gets about a 98-99oct mix out of this, and that his car runs a lot better with this mixture than if he'd run regular 100oct race fuel. This sound right to you folks? -Ben

Kerosene has a "Cetane" rating, not an "Octane" rating.
It definitely has a relative octane number but it's probably in the 50's. Nott good or it would be used as part of gasoline.

Ive heard of mixing kerosene in diesel to clean the motor out, but have never heard of it as an octane booster in cars. How he thinks that helps it run better than 100oct. is beyond me.... >_>

Some people refer to avgas as kerosene. I don't know why the 2 stroke oil through.

He says the oil adds lubrication/acts as a buffer for the kerosene? Sounds like a headache for 0 performance gain to me....-Ben

No. What you can use is xylene, but not kerosene. The mixing ratio should be 3 to 1 (1 part xylene for three parts of gasoline)

Last I knew kerosene was oil. Add more oil to it. Don't do any of this.

He claims that kerosene by itself has an octane rating of 114 and that you just gotta mix in the 2 stroke oil to offset the damages done by the kerosene. Ive searched around on the interwebs, and the best I can find is that the only reason it would give any benefit is that it has toluene in it and maybe that helps it run better? 0.o -Ben
