Damn I wanted Tank to win. Honestly Kimbo isn't that great. Good street fighter but if he starts to step up to some of the better MMA guys I think he'll be getting punked out pretty easily. But maybe he's been getting some decent training. I'm talking based on what I've seen on his internet fights, he hardly covers himself and you can see situations where a real MMA fighter would take him out.

Kimbo is a bad dude. Tank hasn't been really impressive in years. I still wouldn't fight either though.

First, I dont see Kimbo as an MMA guy, I see him as a brawler, like Tank. Kimbo is training with Bas Rutten, probably one of the best in the world but that does not make up for experience. Dont get me wrong, Kimbo has fight experience but the second a guy with a decent ground game(Fedor, Mir) comes around they will tap him in no time. Kimbos good but he will get submitted fast I think by someone that has been in the game for a while.

Exactly. They threw Tank at him so he could beat someone with a "name". What has Tank Abbot done recently? Nothing. Once Slice has to fight some real competition I think we'll see a different result.

I want to see Kimbo vs. Brock Lesnar, I think the Lesnar would ground and pound the hell out of him, It would not be good for Kimbo, I think.

I concur. Maybe 10 years ago Tank would have put up a better fight.
Both are just brawlers. If I were Tank, I would really brush up on my wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu. Stay in close to Kimbo. Grab him, get to Kimbo side (where he will not eat so many knees or strikes), so Kimbo does not have the distance to launch an effective blow and try to wear him down.

Now a days if you have a good spawl, quick hands and decent Jiu-Jitsu
you should be good. Conditioning is everything. REMEMBER, you could have the fastest car in the world, if you do not put gas in it, it will go no where.

I have been practicing BJJ for 12 years now. I have entered many tournaments but no Vale Tudo events. Love it and would recommend it to everyone. Speed and Power is not needed as much as in other styles. Just my .02 cents.

Conditioning is everything, I also have been doing BJJ for sometime, I was a wrestler in High school and my friend was doing BJJ and got me into it. I also do Muay thai which is alot of fun as well. Without conditioning, your screwed. But, Tank just needs to retire, he has lost his last 4 fights, he doesnt even try anymore he just prays that one his punches lands. If you look at his fights, not one of them has gone past the 1st round.

I would have love to have seen a real MMA fighter crawl him like a python and squeeze him out:biggrin:

Been watching Kimbo for over a year on YouTube. One of the best MMA fighters I've seen.

YouTube - Kimbo v's Tank

One of the best MMA fighters you've seen? haha, you can't be serious, kimbo has never even been in a real MMA fight.

Kimbo is 95% hype. They will build him up some more by throwing another has been at him. I will be amused when he goes up against an actual MMA fighter and kimbo gets choked out.

Nothing wrong with losing, but Tank showed ZERO heart, they better have paid him well because that was embarrassing as hell.

I like Kimbo, he's got a punchers chance against anyone on the planet, but it's time to take on a ranked opponent, see where he's really at.

Look at Brock Lesnar, sure he got submitted by Mir, but he's doing it right as far as coming in with some legitimate opponents. He was devastating Mir but that Brazilian Ju Jitso reigned supreme once again. The old, "get your butt kicked until you get a submission hold" style is not for me though, looks painful, lol.

I like Kimbo and actually want to see him do well...but like the others said he needs to go up against real, established MMA fighters to make a name for himself. Hopefully Kimbo's conditioning and ground skills (if he had any) have improved especially since he has trained with Bas Rutten.

Look for Kimbo's fight against Sean Gannon. I think he got his ass kicked in that fight. Sean started choking him out but Kimbo's "posse" started to break it up. Kimbo got gassed out pretty quick.

The only thing which saved Mir was the referee deducting a point from Lesnar for the strikes to the back of the head, which was bogus considering it was only one hit. Don't get me wrong I knew Mir was going to win by submission and I was rooting for him. A good BJJ fighter will avoid getting hurt, especially he or she takes the fight to the ground.

I agree with everyone that thinks Kimbo definately needs more training (lots & lots). He also needs to learn not to hit "old guys" in the back of the head & to not knock Troy Waugh's hands away when he's being reprimanded. Who's Gary Shaw got for him to fight in EliteXC now! Bigfoot can't handle him & let's don't even talk about "40# overweight" Rodriquez. Mr. Ferguson is a little rough around the edges like Broc, but they've both got potential.

Ken Shamrock announced his return to MMA in Elite XC. Shamrock vs. Kimbo would be interesting if Shamrock could get Kimbo to the ground.

Its cool to see some one come off of the streets and into MMA. He'll have a hard time against the pro's but he hits like a sledgehammer... it will be fun to watch.

He's a Bad Man in the Prison Yard.

Different story in the Octagon.

Slice and Tank review from Submit to MMA!

Kimbo Slice knocks out Tank Abbott after only 43 seconds in the first round: Tank looked for a takedown early and was unable to secure it. From there, Slice delivered a boat load of punishment, dropping Tank to the canvas on three separate occasions before the referee finally stepped in. Kimbo may just be for real.

Tank Abbott vs. Kimbo Slice Review and Results

THE LEGEND CONTINUES... KIMBO KO'S TANK

The legend of Kimbo Slice continues to grow as the YouTube Internet sensation continued his emergence in mixed martial arts, knocking out Tank Abbott in just 43 seconds of the first round of their heavyweight match-up.

Abbott charged across the cage to start the fight and worked to take Kimbo down, but the hometown fighter resisted and unloaded numerous punches on Tank.

The fight was stopped for a moment as Abbott went down on the ground. Kimbo unloaded shots to the back of Tank’s head and the referee stopped the action to warn the Miami native about the illegal punches.

After the restart, Kimbo simply came after Abbott with everything he had in his stand-up arsenal, hitting shot after shot on Tank, and landed a huge right hand that put Abbott down on the mat, face first, ending the fight.

Despite all the pre-fight build up between the two fighters, Kimbo expressed his respect for Abbott when the bout was over.

“I got a lot of respect for Tank,” said Kimbo in his post fight interview. “I always watched him growing up as a shorty. This was one of my dream fights along with (Mike) Tyson. To get in the ring and bang with Tank.”

Commentators Mauro Renallo and Stephen Quadros discussed the possibility of Kimbo’s next fight being against Ken Shamrock, who is now also signed to the EliteXC brand and will make his debut in March for Cage Rage against Buzz Berry

Kimbo Slice dropped Tank very quickly with a hard left and then left- right combination. Unfortunately for Slice, he then hit Tank to the back of the head several times, causing the referee to step in and give Tank a reprieve. However, Slice connected with a hard right after the stand up and then the same moments later after his opponent got up again. This compelled Tank to the canvas face first.

How good is Kimbo Slice really? That’s hard to say. But we do now know that Slice is here to be a real mixed martial arts fighter. That hometown crowd was certainly behind him.

Kimbo Slice wins via knockout at 43 seconds of round one.

Quentin Jackson might have ground game like a Gracie...might not.

Ya don't really know because he knocks people the F out...quickly. Anybody that can throw a lick like that has a chance.

I never really thought Q Jackson would put Chuck Lidell on the back burner like he did, but......

I hope Kimbo makes his mark just because I like an underdog. Its got to be tough to make yourself a star by knocking people out in alleys and vacant lots. It definitely takes determination. With determination, a strong jaw, and a killer uppercut he might climb up the ladder for a little while...I will have fun watching.
