anyone have a knock gauge?

does yours swing over to red when you START the car?

i think mine is overly tight

before i had this sensor i never had any problems going wot 0-125mph, according to this gauge i should have no headgaskets or pistons once i hit 3rd gear

i think its just making me paranoid or something

by the way i put in an oil pressure gauge and at speed or on the highway my oil is @ 50psi, and at idle its between 17 and 25psi

Ours doesn't swing into the red when you start the car, maybe a bad sensor. I know I read somewhere on here where someone had it too tight and it was picking up false knock. Do a search and see what you come up with. I think some of the gauges are funky.... You really looking at the knock sensor gauge correct?? Just wondering.

its got 3 wires power ground and signal, its hooked up right

and there is no mistaking it

when i crank it over it usually swings over to red and stays there

mine has gone over into the red a few times, but it usually only gets into the yellow.it sounds like you may have overtightened your sensor.

later,sean

!

well, its factory!

ive heard stories of them getting too sensitive over time or somethn.. so i dunno..

Try running the power wire for your Knock guage from a source that doesn't have power with the key in the start position. Like your power wire for your radio. This will keep it from picking up knock during start.

Same with mine. If you hook up the power like mentioned in the above thread, you'll solve that. Or keep turning the key on and off until you catch the green light at the bottom and then start the car. It will move up a couple lights until it runs a few seconds and then goes back to the bottom green.
If the actual sensor is too sensitive. Take it out and put some pipe thread tape on it and just hand tighten it real good.
Also a motor tie down will help.

Mine goes all the way on start up. Doesn't mean much.

It should reset after 3 seconds. If not, then you need to manually reset it, off-on, with a switch (or hook it up as mentioned above). The problem is with the ESC controller, not the gauge. It only hangs up on start up, after that it will be fine.

Black Ttype is right. Either you need to run the power to the radio or have an on/off switch like B4Black said. Mine was doing the same thing. I called Caspers and thats what they told me to do because the knockgauge is going off because of the esc module for some reason. Mine works fine now I wish my car did so I wouldn't see any lights besides the 1st green one on that gauge.:D

well, im saying even if i wait for the 1 green to go back to the "ready" light, when i crank it shoots up to red, ill go make a movie of it and post the link here in a minute

It's FALSE knock caused by the starter. Don't worry about it. They all do it to some extent. You car isn't any different than any other. Mine always goes to the last red and the audible alert makes long tone when I start the car.

If you need a second opinion, call John Spina at Casper's Electronics. He'll help you out. :)
