Not to be a sceptic here, but I keep hearing you talk about Melissa's 9 second car but have never seen it at the track or at any Buick events? How many 9 second 1/4 mile passes has it actually made??? I hope to see it at an event in 2010???

hahahaha... Ill answer anything.. well almost.. 1 9 sec pass . Mess of 10.0s all in the mid/high 130's .. BUT after she ran a 9 she got thrown out. A few weeks later we dragged the car to Reynolds with "her" new shortblock and a borrowed set of "fixed" alum heads along with a new halo and net set up so the car was legal from a safety point. (Mothers orders.. All safety stuff or don't race the car anymore ) . The motor she was using was out of my Mazda. Car only ran a few 10.1s .. Then we found out we broke the head .
....Now for the fun an games. NO you prob won't see the car at Buick events like BG/Reynolds. (wellll maybe Cecil County in Oct ). We are goin a different direction with her set up. We ran the 9/10.0s with a Precision 67 GTQ turbo (Cal Hartline), old V4 stock location intercooler, 60# inj with a CHIP, iron heads, stock TB, plenum and a RJC powerplate. 200R4 with a LU converter (ya we know they don't work:p) , and drag radials. A car that was driven just like we raced it .
.....After Reynolds the car was put away for the winter. then the next 2 years Melissa had "opportunities" knocking that she had to do. She bought a house. Then of all things she decided to get married !! I warned em both but they didn't listen!! After the wedding she was suppose to go racing BUT (ya always a BIG but !!) she had to step up to new stuff for her job! (good girl ) .. $$$$$ makes the world go round !! So she has just been driving the hell out of the car an havin fun with it. Racing had to take a back seat.
.... So now we are moving up to some other junk parts I have been looking at since 2000 and have done nothing with them till now.
....Sorry Mark for messin up your post .. Hope everyone is happy with my reply :p Here is a few pics .. Her old Turbo (67GTQ will go on the Mazda) and the rest of her new "stuff"

We will have to see where this one goes!!!
I already have PM's from other people that are glad I asked the question.
I hope he doesn't take it personal but I wouldn't mind a grudge match when I get my new car done.

WOW I didn't think people were that worried about us. Sorry BUT there are other things out there that come before a "toy". (Oh THANK GOD she did as I said NOT what I had done when I was young and foolish:biggrin:). I hope my reply was good enuff for you and all of your PM buddy's. Fastest car ??? HELL NO!!! ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE LOOKIN TO MOVE UP. :p

Al and I saw the fabled GN at the NED track rental day we did in late October. It was driven in and they drove it home. Not trips down the track. I asked Russ if he was going to take it down the track. He said, "No, Melissa IS the driver." I've seen her drive and that is the truth. She knows that car. Dan did mention they had some "plans" for the GN but you know Dan, devil is the the details and you have to sift threw them for the gems.

.....It really killed Russ and I when we went there that day. It was a BEAUTIFUL RACEDAY !! BUT as I said she has a very good job:p. Normally she could get the day or afternoon off . Well 3 weeks before her wedding she got a very important 6 month assignment. Work does come first and she was NOT happy not being able to race but what are ya goin to do??!!! I know I know .. All of us "guy's" would have said "ahhhh **** we are goin racing :biggrin:
.... Now back to the thread.. a 7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14 sec cars are ALL goin to break sooner or later. We take our's apart every other year just to check stuff out.. Mag everything and smack it on its butt and get it back in the car. Ya we look at the trans to. A maintained car can work out pretty good. Personally I wouldn't buy a 9 sec car or faster unless I knew the guy personally.. To many guys have cars that have no idea whats in them!! Oh ya they ALL run EASY 9's :p
.... Mark wait a month or 2 and GNBRETT will be selling his beautiful blue "T" .. Right Brett ?? :p:biggrin:

usually the level of reliability depends greatly on how well the car is maintained. i dont believe in fix it when its broke but catch it before it happens.

there is no such thing as a reliable gn. they break . its part of the game.

Somebody "may" have said you were pretty but the sharp part I think you came up with on your own.

See ya, Kip

Sorry but RELIABLE and 9 SECOND CAR doesn't go together.

Especially when your racing at the track!!!

I could push mine into the 9's but it wouldn't be too reliable for very long!!!

Good Luck on your search.

I'll admit 2008 was a bad year for my car (broke rear/trans (from the rear), turbo, head gasket blah, blah blah. It was running 10 teens to 10.30's.

2009 on the other hand I had not a problem one except going through three sets of tires. Consistant 9.70's to 9.90's even in july in 95* weather. I race just about every weekend mostly eighth mile, but the car went the same or faster at the 1/4 mile tracks. There are a bunch of videos on youtube under my name. The car does have cold a/c & the 2004r tranny. So I believe you can have a reliable, solid 9 second car.
