This made me laugh.

I have two chevy D-maxes and have had zero problems with them. I own a roofing company. In the summer months these trucks are pulling 18ft trailers with a min of #30 Square's( 5+ ton's ) of shingles back and forth to the landfill all day long. Trannys are great..Motor has more than enough power... Interior is the best I have been in. (Someone mentioned the interiors are not all that.) Thats the biggest line I have heard. The dodges start to rattle apart in the first 100 miles but you wouldn't no, because you couldn't hear a nucular bomb go off with all that rattle,,rattle,,rattle,,, noise..:D The fords noise is a little better, but still not for me. I can still go threw a drive in without turning my truck off. Rember just because its louder doesn't mean it has more power.. Just Like a GN..;)

If you're not towing a lot and you're set on an auto, get the dmax...I personally would never own a tow vehicle that was an auto, even the allisons give problems if constant towing

LADE FREEKING DA, my better 1/2 is one also & there is no way she would go around writing / typing ANYTHING like a damn 1st grader. you think you have a degree that makes you better / smarter than this stupid f*cking truck driver? you just keep on thinking that, "male in a females position".

Back in late '04/early '05 I bought into a Matco tool business, Wanted a reliable work truck to haul those tools in, so I got even more in debt with a brand new GMC5500 that had the Dmax in it, in the first 4 months of trying to get the business started, that thing left me on the side of the road 3 times. 3 different dealers looked at it and couldn't figure it out. After losing a **** load of $, I got out while I could, the guy who leased the truck after I did had the same thing happen. So, when the time came for me to look for a truck to haul stuff, I didn't even consider a GM, didn't want a Dmax & didn't want an IFS front end either.

Considered the Dodge, which seems to have the best engine, but still has the dodge rear end & transmission and a know a few guys whose dodge has the interiors panels falling off.

I ended up with a Powerstroke, and YES I'm a GM guy, have never owned a Ford, but after 18 years of driving, I'm happy with my choice. It's an '01 with the 7.3 with forged rods, gets better mpg in town than my '97 K1500 did, and it has a solid front axle so I'm not concerned with 35" tires. Had a stack of receipts in the glovebox for upgrades, one of which was for a built transmission which seems to be the weak link in a 7.3 when you start making any more than stock power.

What was the reason the D-max left you on the side of the road? Thats the first I have ever heard of a problem that not even a dealer couldn't figure out. When they were first new a few years before you bought yours they had some injector problems. I had mine fixed from the dealer under warranty. Thats the only problem I have ever had with the 03. Yours might have been built on a friday...;)

Really don't know what was wrong with it, they never figured it out. They replaced the PCM, wiring, & I think the BCM. It was something electrical. Maybe it just happens in the TopKicks/Kodiaks:confused:, because my friend is a mechanic & his Cornwell supplier bought a new one two years ago & started having the same issue, didn't ask if they figured it out.

Many of you guys may know stuff about Buicks but, you certainly know very little about Diesel pickup trucks. I've read a lot of just flat wrong information and I'm not talking about the personal observations. Dreamn4GN, you made a smart decision for the truck that has the best overall package.

Everyone has their opinions and have had their own personal experiences, so saying some info above is "flat out wrong" is a stretch. There are gonna be lemons in every brand. Whatever the OP gets is gonna look great from my house anyways...as long as he's happy:

Glad you made your choice! Now google "EFI live Duramax"...........and let the fun begin :p ...I gave you my honest opinion on all 3 trucks but nothing wrong w/ a Dmax, Isuzu has been building Diesels for a loong time (actually very large commercial diesels too) and they've done a terrific job w/ these motors...if your buying used, try and get an 06+ (LBZ) or newer, I have an 05' (LLY) which had a few minor prob's but I fixed that ;). I know u said u were looking 08' or newer, just thought I would toss that in....the LB7's (2004 and earlier...) had injector issues that were a pain in the arse' to fix! ....And I do know alot about diesel trucks

A few quick examples of what I meant by wrong info: The Sterling Bullet was a Dodge and never had an Allison transmission, it was an Aisin. Dodge never made a 4x4 Cummins with IFS. The Duramax is not made by Isuzu. It was a joint venture design with GM and is made only by GM for GM. Like I said, I was not referring to personal observations or opinions.
