Loud knock comming from trans?

K Not my car but a guy i work with

he has a 700r4, he lost gears the other day , I went over and fired up car and major loud banging.

I figured perhaps flexplate broke or would convertor make a loud banging?

He is getting it up on jackstands friday so I can pull the inspection cover and check flexplate...bolts etc

Anyone ever heard this before?... I had flexplate crack one time, just vibrated me out of my seat

Reaction sunshell stripped the spilnes,will lose rev,2nd,4th. Or low planetary blew up let us know what he finds.

K steve, I'll be the one yanking it, he would have a hard time handing me a metric hammer

just curious once i pulled the cover, checked bolts removed bolts, slid tc back to inspect etc etc
