after searching fro a while i did not come up with much information.

so here is my question:

i want to run a external fuel pump on my GN but i cannot afford a weldon nor do i want the thing to be whining all the time, and i do not want to spend the extra money on a controller.

someone on this board mentioned MAGNAFUEL fuel pump. they are relatively quiet and do not require a controller for continous street duty.

Fuel pumps being soo important, i would like to hear what people have experienced with these pumps. Which one did you run, Any problems, noise, wire needed to run the thing... all that good stuff.

i think that these pumps are a great alternative for the street driven guys who what an external pump, but do not want the whining and the cost associated with a weldon.

Lets here it

Ran one on my car. I went with the "cheaper" one.. I think it was $450 and still good for 1500hp. It was not one that had a pivoting head.. Pro Tuner model. Either MP 4301 or 4303 for 2000hp.. I can't remember.

It was quieter than the aeromotive pro series.. although much louder than stock. Only had it on the car for about a month, but seem to get the job done and was good on the street.

I don't know why you want to run an external unless you are going to run a fuel cell and don't want a double pumper.

you are correct, i am going to a fuel cell and i am too afraid of a double pumper.

Anyone else out there.

Disco Stu used one on his car, but it wasn't driven much I don't think.

I really really would recommend a magnafuel. I used an Aeromotive for about 1000 miles and it started to vapor lock - that is their biggest problem because they aren't meant to pull fuel at all.

Of course, you shouldn't use a weldon on the street.

I'm using the Pro Tuner EFI pump. Its works awesome. It is noiser than the stock pump/dbl pumpers but not nearly as loud as Weldon or Aeromotive. It also doesn not require a step down box and is self priming.

lazaris, what size wire are you running to the pump? are you running a simple hotwire kit to the pump?

I looked at you sig, if the magnaflow on the 9.52 car?

I believe it was a 12 or 14 gauge wire. It was whatever they recommended in the instructions. I run the Pro Tuner EFI 626 Mp-4301. Thats what I ran my times with. I also have a boost a pump wired into to it just in case but I havent needed to you use it. Yet.....:)

I have a pro tuner 625 in my car about a month now, not loud at all & no stupid stepdown needed!

Robby Ward is a good Guy at Magnafuel I run a 500 on my Big Block Buick. There Pumps work very well. Call Robby Monday at 1-800-321-7761 and tell him what you are doing with the Car tell him Jeff Strube from Brighton Colorado told you to call him.Vey good Fuel Products

can any of your boys running the magnafuel pumps tell me what regulator you are running.

i spoke to the guys in the tech deptartment and they said their regulators are made to replace other regulators that cannot releive off the pressure and volume that the pumps create.

Now i am running a kenne Belle regulator, and i do not know if that will be enough. i hope so, this is turning into a expensive project.

thanks for the help

chasmat2316, the mp9950-B, i am assuming that is the one magnafuel offers. why did you run with that one? did your previous on not work?

thanks

adrian

You will hear thde pump in the car, but it is still driveable.

really norbs, i will hear it over the sound of a 3.5inch exhaust that dumps out before the axle?? i know that they are louderthat intake walbro's but not by much.

That's the reg to use with that pump, I have champion rails- dual feed. You can here the pump, but not too bad, much nicer than a stupid weldon! Almost sounds like an old school Holley blue pump!

Don't use a dead head reg if that's what they're trying to recommend. The 525 pump would be like running a double pumper all the time so you're going to need to run a bigger return line ( -6 ) but that should do it on an adjustable reg. If not, Turbofabricator made a nice fitting to allow the stock rail to run an external reg and made the internal size bigger to flow more fuel.

And the Magna 525 is plenty for a GN on gas, damn the 625 is huge even on E85 for a GN.

I have the Magna 500 on my E85 GTO, it's loud but the only way to go on street driven cars IMO if you want dependability, $$ and performance.

I have a
Weldon DB2025 Pump // WELDON RACING PUMPS // Viewing product: DB2025-A (-12 Inlet and -10 Outlet),

Weldon controler // WELDON RACING PUMPS // Viewing product: 14000 Fuel Pump Controller

I can't even hear the pump when I turn the pump speed down. Plus I have all the fuel I need if I ever decide to toss a twin turbo V8 in. ;)

hey guys,

well i am running a champion race intake and rails as well, i plan on running a -8 or -10 return. i know it is overkill.. whatever.

GNVYUS, you are are saying that i can stick to my Kenne Belle regulator?

Well lets run some numbers, does anyone know what a double pumper flows at 70psi. The Magnafuel states that at 12.5V, 70 PSI, it flows 1.5Gal/min

So what does a double pumper run? if it is similar, and people can run there normal regulators with the doubles, then this should be no problem. Right?
