In two months ill be moving from Green bay WI to Houston(Cypress). Is there a GN club there?cool car hang outs?Would be cool to meet some new people .Where's the closest drag strip(hopefully 1/4 mile)?I just sold my last car(WE4) and will be looken to get into a new one soon.
thanks Brian

Not too sure about the GN club, pretty sure there is a Buick club that some guys from the board are affiliated with. And someone can mistake me if I am wrong, but closest 1/4 mile dragstrip is going to be in Baytown, TX at Houston Raceway Park, and 1/8 mile will be in Houston, TX at Houston Motorsports Park. If you have any more questions reply back or shoot me a PM. Looking forward to having another Texan!!

If you don't mind me asking, whats the nature of the move? I would assume work, but you never know.

Texas Motor Sport Park is an 1/8th mile track. Texas Motor Speedway is where the big boys play. There is always something going on at either of these two places. Also I know in Kemah on Saturday night at the Home Depot parking lot there is always a good turn out of nice cars.

thanks for the responds,No i dont mind.Im moving there cause my soon to be fiance transfered there from up here this last spring for work.Shes a engineer for GE gas and oil and there based out of there.Long distance thing sucks.I was just there a few weeks ago.We stayed a few nights in Galveston at Moody Gardens, had a great time.I like it down there....Im just going to have to deal with heat :(.I just turned 34 and would like to try something else.So looking forward to it and meeting some new people and hope fully some buick guys.Ive built around 10 gn-ttypes and a few GS's.I.m starting to look for a job now,I'm a ase auto tech and ive seen lots of jobs so I hope I can find my place. Thanks
Brian

scrobby: the Kemah cruise-in got shut down a few months ago & TMS is up in he Dallas area...

It's been about two years ago for me on the Kemah thing. I'm sure the hurricane had a lot to do with it? FYI Houston is big but I didn't think it stretch all the way to Dallas, at least I didn't remember driving that far. Here the address to TMSP 11620 North Lake Houston Pkwy, Houston, TX 77044. It's located inside the belt-way.

Good to have more Buick guys moving down here. There are quite a few car meets in and around the cypress area. Lonestar motorsports out in Sealy is probably the closest place for you. Its probably an hour and baytown is probably an hour 15 the other direction. My girlfriends parents live out in Cypress on Huffmeister and I inspect the storm water systems at most CyFair schools up and around there. Maybe I'll see ya around.

There is also a 1/4 mile strip in Evadale just north of Beaumont. There are some pretty fast garage builds, but the drag strip is like going to a rural Wal-Mart...you'll enjoy the people watching just as much as the drag racing.

Thanks for all the responses!Im looking forward to the move, new life, challenges and new friends.Take care everyone

OK, you're meaning Houston Motorsports Park... I went there a few times back when I had my Z28 & Lightning. It's in a rough neighborhood / part of town, so the crowd can sometimes reflect that.

There is also "club" / membership based road racing track out off of 288 near Angleton (MSRhouston.com), it's a really nice facillity but also $$$$ to use.

Owners of the lot (Target I think) shut the Kemah meet down for pretty much, no good reason... just didn't want the cars there anymore.

GBGN1: Feel free to give the HBC a holler when you get here, good group of Buick nutz. :)

The Houston Buick club is a great group from my experience. I think you will be made to feel at home quickly with them. You can check them out at The Houston Buick Club for more information.

Well it was 15 in Greenbay when I left and yesterday I was in a tshirt drinken a beer on patio. Not to bad....now dealing with the traffic .But good so far.
thanks!

There is a chili cookoff for the houston buick club on sunday the 21st of Feb. Its at Mike Kurtz's tranny shop down in richmond Texas. The next big meet after that is at the bellville carshow on March 6th. Last year we had quite a few come over for burgers after the show but this year its been pretty rainy and it just depends on how muddy it is out at my parents ranch.
