I have been using for awhile(few yrs) with no problems, but suddenly it doesnt work anymore. The browser opens but no page comes up down in the status bar it indicates that its Done. I have removed it and downloaded a new version from there site but no luck. Has anybody encountered this. Internent Explorer works just fine.

I;m thinking you have some type of fire wall or cookie issue.

open the firefox and click on the tools at the top. click the options and there opens a window. Click the privacy and in the middle is a cookies section. accept cookies from sites get it to accept cookies. there is also an exceptions box to click. click it and there could be listed this and other sites that you don't want to accept cookies from.

this might fix your problem, might not could be your firewall.

what kind of virus scan are you running?... Same symptoms on teenagers system, was trojan downloader

download the free AVG and run

Im using mcafee virus scan, do you have a link to free AVG

Also my cookies are set to except

I forgot to mention that nothing comes up in the address bar not even the homepage , unless I type it in and when I do that I get error-

AUS: Update XML File Malformed (200)

I also did the AVG virus scan

Your profile may be corrupted. go to start>run and type "firefox -p". Create a new profile and see if it works. If so, you can copy over your bookmarks and such from your old profile folder to the new folder and continue using the new profile.

Profile manipulation instructions are here Profiles. Note that your profile folder is not a subfolder of your Firefox program folder; uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox has no effect at all on your (possibly corrupted) profile(s).
