My old lady was being real cool when we ran into a little financial trouble. I offered to sell the Buick so that we can catch up a bit but she opposed it. Instead we ended up selling our 2004 BMW 745iL. It was mostly her daily driver and she was kinda bummed especially when I showed up with an 87 Century (at least its a 3.8L) as a temporary replacement  I scored a little cash and decided to grab her something a more her flavor. I asked one of her friends to come and pick her up. While she was gone I took a trip with my brother down to LA and grabbed her another Bimmer. To make a long story short, she was very suprised and happy she has another Bimmer. I told her "It's not a 7 series but at least it's a 'vert." She told me ''It's better than a 7 because this one was a complete unexpected awesome suprise.'' BTW I got an awesome deal on it considering its mechanically sound and has minimal interior wear.... how does $2200 sound !!!

and DAMN THAT IS A FOOKING GOOD DEAL FOR A 328iC !!!

Dude...that is a serious score. You got some killer points with the wife too...win/win!!;)

I still have the Century and we are considering selling it. It needs a new transmission, headliner, smog and header panel. If we dont sell it soon, Im pulling the engine and interior...the rest is going to the crusher. I really dont want to do that but our HOA will send us another one of those rude letters. They have already sent notices about me having the TR up on jackstands in my OWN garage.

Thanks man, she's a happy camper right now. I spent the better part of two days cleaning the interior for her. Its nice and shiny now, the weather is getting better, and she's going really enjoy it this summer.

3 series is always better than 7 series.
Personally, I like the 3 better than the 7. The 7 series was really nice and it turned a lot of heads but its definatley not friendly on the wallet considering we burned up 2 transmissions, the iDrive fried twice, control arm bushings went bad, and replaced the fuel pump. All of this cost us about 12k in repairs.

This is her 2nd e36 Bimmer and she loves them. I had an e30 M3 years ago with a widebody kit and staggered BBS mesh wheels. I loved that car. They are nimble and a blast to drive in the canyons.

How did you find that deal?! :) ---

Of all places I found it on craigslist. At first I called BS but the guy who had it just bought a new 6 series so he was a motivated seller. He had it listed at $3200 but because of my polished negotiating skills honed by watching hours of Pawnstars, I was able to talk him down to $2200.

the 87 Century needs a new transmission eh? would it survive a drive to say, Oregon? let me guess, its a 4 door? any pics? PM me about it....I'm looking into ideas for such cars and my father seems to prefer the FWD cars for me to own than the RWD cars (though theres been a few good deals on the G-bodies, most got sold within 24 hours of being on craigs in Oregon)

the engine is really strong and again the only thing really wrong with it is the transmission and the header panel. getting it to oregon? i dont know bro...that trans is pretty bad i cant imagine even trying to go over the Grapevine into Bakersfield with it. you would have to be going full steam ahead with a tail wind and prayer to get over that grade with the trans the way it is. i will send you some pics later today. it's a rust free car and 100% there.

theres also the Mt Shasta area and then Medford area up on I5, but I was thinking to take a week or 2 using hwy 101 on the coastline, IF its not to treacherous...

Ive only been to San Francisco via the 101. Its not too bad as far as mountains go however there is a stretch between Santa Barbara and Santa Margarita that gets pretty steep at times. Anything past San Francisco Im not to sure about. I think it would make it if you stayed away from the mountains. I will get you those pics a little later on.

alrighty cool, I'm a member of the FWD A-body club A-Body.net and theres a club member out there in Palm Springs, who might be able to help me out about the transmission and similar stuff regarding the Century...if he isn't too busy =)

Here's a few pics of the 87 Century Custom 3.8L VIN 3 150 HP ( I think its a roller cam but correct me if Im wrong). Its pretty clean with the exception of the accidental cold air intake in the header panel :p It will need a new headliner, a brake job, motor mount, and the transmission replaced or rebuilt, and finally smog. The odometer reads about 116,000 and it was ALWAYS serviced by GM Goodwrench. I bought the car from an aunt of mine. She and my uncle bought the car new back in '87 so my girl and I are the 2nd owners. Once her husband died the car sat in her garage from 1999 till a few months ago. I had it towed to my pad and did a little spring cleaning. I drained the tank, installed a new fuel pump, fuel pump hanger assembly, fuel filter, fpr, AC Delco plugs, changed the oil, oil filter, coolant, tranny fluid (to no avail), used tires lol, air filter, windshield washer fluid, wiper blades, new muffer and pipe from cat back, and an air freshner . I was really suprised at how well the engine runs. Its really snappy and will get a little rubber if you hop on it.

Here are few pics. I placed more pics of the car in the cars for sale section under non turbo cars for sale sub catagory. You can take it for $900.

the only thing that makes me nervous is the transmission..:/ could you take pics of the insides, and the SPID, so i can tell which transmission ratio and if its the same as a friend of mine's 440TH-4? the red medallion and if the SPID shows LG3, it means its a roller cam engine with 150 hp and 200 torque, 8.5 CR..... there's an 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera 2 door with the same engine/trans, in Eugene with 82K miles on Craigslist for 900 or best offer....there WAS an 85 carbed ciera 2 door (same chassis as the centurty lol) in WA for $500 and it sold....hmm if I'm going to spend the $$$ for gas to there and back, and need some work, especially on the transmission and header panel....900 isnt a good enough reason for me to go down there...=(

Nice looking BMW. Nice find. Sounds way too good to be true... Are you sure it's not a fright pig?

No not at all the guy was really honest with what needed to be done to car. He was the OG owner and gave us all the service records on it. The plastic window in the vert top is oxidized so I ordered a new one...thank God the E36's vert window zips in. Years ago I had an 91 E30 M3 vert with a back window that sewed in . That was a PITA but I got that done in 8 hours. One of the rear trailing arms is outta wack so I ordered a new set from Bavarion Autosport. Besides a small spring cleaning nothing really needs to be done. There are literally thousands of these things floating around with and endless supply or replacement parts so if we ran into some type of castrophic failure we are still ahead.

Yep, I have the same car (BMW)..The motors are basically bulletproof, Ive got 200,000 miles on mine with original alternator, timing chain, radiator, etc..The only thing I changed was the water pump and belt to be on the safe side..:) Oh, and of course, regular oil changes with dino oil..
