Hi all,

Here's the code from the tag on the rear of the tranny:
275-881KTF0292

I looked through some old posts and the website that has the codes for
200-4R's but it only goes back to 82 and I think mine is an 81. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

It looks like code KTF which came on the back of an Olds motor around 86' or 87'.

I show that code being used on 87-90 Olds 307 applications. Usually the letter "K" means Cadillac. Sorry. I'm no good at decyphering the exact build date.

I have one of those exact units sitting in the garage .... came out of a Caddy!

It was a later one, 89 if I remember right ..... yours is a 81 ....

Are you saying mine is an 81 because I said so or do you know it's an 81? I assumed my tranny was from an 81 because of the 81 in the code. Thanks again!

Jeff

1KT(f) indicates 81 caddy .... I had 9KT(f) and I tore it out of an 89 Caddy

Well, as you will learn from the experts on here ..... they will say that for HP applications, they only use BF (86/87 GN's) and BQ (84/85 Buicks) coded
2004r's. The BF's are preferred over all others for their high flow valve bodies AND governors.

For less HP, say around <350-400hp, any 2004r will probably hold up pretty well if you get it built with a quality rebuild kit, hardened stator, and beefed up 10-13vane pump kit (and any other part that it may need) ...

Now as I say all this, talk to some real experts like Bison, JDGN, EricGN, Mikster and the vendors such as Chris that have done many of these AND got them right!!!
