ok guys i need your help, im lost. i got my turbo back today and got it on a few hours ago took it out for a drive to make sure all was good but nope still got knock. im open to all and any help. i have 3 power logger files attached. the first run was no changes to my chip before the rebuild at the end of the file last pull i held the test button on the alky to see if that would help. second run i figured with the new heads and the good flowing motor i needed more fuel so i added max fuel also at the end of the file i held the test button while i was getting on it. 3rd was a little power break in front of the house but it started to spin the tires since the air pressure is to high the the tires. the car pulls good under no boost and if i rev. it in park i get no knock. the car doesnt break up and it acts fine. no oil in coolant and no coolant in oil good oil pressure good coolant temp. please help or the car isnt going to make the WCN. should i order a new chip. could it be off that much over the old motor. well the second drive wont upload its to big of a file :( as far as the powerlogger i have WB, IAT, IAT in the intake, EGT, ect. maybe i should lean it out? also could a crank sensor not set right cause this. when i pulled the plugs before the turbo they looked fine but i can pull them again.

well tomorrow i will pull max fuel and see what happens. the 02 sensor is brand new. also when you pull or add fuel via the turbo tweak chip that should effect part throttle correct or no? i might need a new chip. ok just pulled a plug and the tip is white the outer ring is black and the porc. looks new. i also took a look at the piston and it looks like its cleaning up. maybe i still have oil in the intake and there is still enough oil on the pistons that i just need to drive it more. what do u think. i put about 20 miles on it and thats it. maybe i need to drive it around 100 or so and see if it still does it.
 
Give us PowerLoggerless folks a few clues. Is it knocking in 1st gear? or just high gear? What do you use to monitor your fueling? Stock O2#'s, EGT gauge, or W/B? Whichever give us those #'s. It sounds like you're jumping up significantly in the power dept. from your previous setup, maybe you should be a heat range colder on the plug. Which plug are you using?
You're just getting it running from a long layoff right? Did you pump out the old gas and put fresh in?? Just trying to help. Scott
 
ok i just talked to eric (TT) and he thinks its the chip he is going to send me one out ASAP. anyways as far as the info its knocking in high gear havent tried first or second. im using a powerlooger to montior A?F/ im running a stock 02 but im running a WB sensor as well. i have a EGT gauge installed as well. im running NGK UR5's gaped at .032. car has fresh 91 octane.
 
eric told me to add 5 psi via the regualtor and see if that fixes it. i will try that tomorrow.
 
If all else fails put GOOD(110+) gas in it(pump out the old) and see if it goes away(no alky). If not, it's false knock.....or oil from the turbo;)

How much boost are you running?
What is your A/F ratio in third when it's knocking?

Are you sure the cam is set at TDC?

We set the motor to TDC and then used caspers tool to set the cam sensor. Would that cause det.? i mean could it be way off or what should i do? what should i test? Should i loosen the cam sensor and turn it a small amount one way or another and see if that works?
 
o and if your asking if the cam was installed right i would hope so zimmerman installed it :)
 
I thought

you were to set it at 24 or 28 degrees after TDC, not TDC
better double check,
Zimmermen usually sets cam in retarded couple degrees

Ok your right about Zimmerman. How about the fuel filter? If you tap the block will that trigger the sensor? If it does you might need a new knock sensor might be to sensitive and reading incorrectly.. :confused: Just a thought.

fuel filter is brand new. knock sensor is new as well.
 
dont think so there is really no way to kink or pinch the feedline. ok made some progress tonight. turned the fuel pressure way up and nothing still got knock, turned the pressure to 39psi and still got knock put the fuel pressure back to 43 line off took the wastgate rod off and no knock :). i will attach the 2 PL runs with the wastegate undone. it still made 4 pounds of boost and it cherped the 1-2 LOL. anyways so im guessing its the chip. any thoughts?\
 
also not sure if the settings i made to the chip came into effect. i have it set for max fuel accross the board. but im not sure if it came into effect with the low boost still.
 
I can't open your dat files but how is the fuel psi when rolling on the throttle? Does it get lean?
