Carfax is a useful tool, but I wonder how accurate it is if they miss a theft as recent as 1999! Anyone know if this is common?Yeah..I hear that sinistr...When u gave me the vins..and said that one of them was stolen from ya..I thought for sure it would show up on the carfax...A little suprised that it didnt...I wonder what else might slip by..Hopefully not much...

CARFAX currently receives information about stolen vehicles from a few states. In these cases, CARFAX Reports only indicate if the vehicle was once reported stolen to a state DMV. CARFAX does not have the vehicle's current status and therefore does not know if it has been recovered.
Currently, CARFAX does not receive stolen data from the state of MS.

I've tentatively agreed to buy this car, an 86 Ttype, but the VIN looks funny to me. I'm not an expert, but I thought the Turbo cars all had the "1177" in them after the 1G4G.
Am I off-base? Anyway, if someone could check this with Carfax, I would be grateful. Thank you as always, gentlemen.

Hey Jim...good luck with it..Just bought mine recently...Still sorting out some bugs with it,,all little stuff..But I love the car..I will keep an eye out for that build# for ya..I think im going to try to find someone around here who works on these turbo cars...Im too new to these things..
