Hi all,

I’m Michael from Bentonville, Ark. I’ve never owned a turbo Buick and have started researching and searching for an 87 Grand National. I’ve loved these cars since I was a teenager in the 80’s and now have the means to own on. Looking forward to learning a lot on the forum and finding one of my dream cars.

Welcome Michael, and yes you have joined ( hands down) the best knowledgeable Turbo Buick Forum board...
I can't help but give you a hard time pertaining to your username.
WOO PIG SOOIE !!! 🐖
Over here in Eastern TN... It's Rocky Top ....Go Big Orange 🍊..LOL..

Thanks for the welcome Buckshot!
I’ve had a few friends go to games there and to say that they had heard that song enough over the course of the game is an understatement! LOL

Welcome aboard.
There's definitely a lot of homework and reading on past posts and not gonna lie, the learning curve can be steep.
Don't rush to jump on the 1st car you find. I recommend if you find one you're really interested in, reach out on here and ask about it, as no doubt some of us old timers just might know the car's entire history and back ground.
Pricing is all over the place too so be prepared for those delusional owners out there.
There are good deals out there to be had though so don't get discouraged in your search.
Definitely post questions anytime if you can't find the answer with the search feature.
Again, welcome aboard.

Thank you everyone! I have definitely been doing a lot of reading over the last few days. There seem to have been quite a few options available on these cars. Trying to learn the important codes on the ID label, vin decoding, etc. what to look for as far as areas prone to rust, etc. Trying to decide which options I absolutely want vs. nice to have. I’m not a huge fan of the t-tops, but that isn’t a deal breaker. I am leaning towards an 87 and as close to stock as I can afford. Some things like exhaust, some suspension and other small changes would be ok. Budget is around 40k.

Welcome. From what I know/see, T-Tops often equates to hidden rust so be careful there. $40k should be plenty for a very nice car, esp if you end up looking for a T-type or Turbo T. Those would be my preference anyway, but I'm partial. :) Good Luck!

Thanks! I’m going to be looking for a Grand National, if that means I need to save up a bit more for the right car, I can be patient.

Keep looking at the nicest car you can afford. Then find someone local to where the car is located to have them look it over PRIOR to buying. This can save you from a lot of heartache and money. Good luck.
