NEW STYLE Big Mouth Cold Air Kits

Now available! A little more work to install vs our regular Big Mouth kits but lighter in weight and it eliminates a 45 degree bend for even better air flow. Requires relocation of the fuel vapor canister to the frame rail and also relocation of the vacuum ball. All easy to do. It does require cutting a hole in the inner fenderwell where the fuel vapor canister originally sits. Like our other kits it is available in plain, powder coated or polished aluminum or chrome plated steel. Check it out.

Good looking setup!

Have you run any test to see if it is actually getting a little cooler air in that location?

No didn't test it, the filter is only about 12" farther back than my regular cold air kit. Came up with this one for a cheaper alternative and better flow by eliminating a 45 degree bend.

for the people that have the first kit is there an update to this kit?

Does it make the filter more susceptable to the elements, or is it still relatively protected?

Pretty much the same. If you guys are really concerned I can look into coming up with a black anodized splash guard.

spalsh guard would be the awesomest thing. my car never gets in the rain but when I wash it filter gets wet. Now I just take it off when i do!

I like it... Not sure when I'm gonna buy one (It's on the list), but when I do, this will be it :D

Wound up ordering the kit and putting it on the other day. The install was a piece of cake and the kit looks great in there (Should have snapped a couple pics). I've only had the car out once since installing it and have noticed that it seems to break the tires loose a bit easier and it sounds pretty mean :D

IMO opinion there needs to be soem kind of guard between the filter and the tire. Just think about all the dirt and debris that tire is kicking up to the back side of that filter. I bet the back side of that filter would be dirty before the front. I am not down playing this system @ all , just thinking of some kind of guard! Not to mention if you got caught out on in a heavy rain storm all the water going towards the filter. I am not sure how hard it would be for our cars to suck water thru the filter and get into the system enough to where it would cause a hydrolocked motor but I am sure it would take quite a bit maybe gettting the car stuck in a 2ft puddle of water would do it but surely common sense would rule that out!

Next time you are in a rainstorm check out the tires on the cars next to you. The majority of the water is spraying from the rear of the tires. One of these days we will come up with a shield for it for those that feel they need it. The filter is only located about a foot farther back then the regular Big Mouth kit. I drove 5 hours in the rain years ago coming back from a show in PA without any ill effects.

At 130mph, the rain will always go rearward. So, if it rains, just STAND on it!! NASA did tests on this. They were trying to see if an astronaut, wearing diapers, could make it to Florida with-out getting the air filter wet. Pants got wet, but filter stayed dry! (they're working on better diapers):D :p

If my filter gets wet, I like it. Water injection. I use to saturate my K&N with water spray between rounds at the track. (Many years ago.) Ever notice how much more power your car makes in the rain? They spin the tires, whith EASE, because of the gain in power from the water injection.;) (and you thought it was from the reduction in traction. )

I've been caught in the rain a few times with Marks older kit and have NEVER suffered any ill effects. I've even been through a few puddles.

Man I must have read the instructions wrong my filter is behind the front tire!!:) I thought that gave it the extra ram air effect!
