I went to the shootout at Noble OK this past weekend and now my trans is acting up.
This is what happened.I took one easy run and walked it off the line to check boost and such.Shifted fine the whole way down to an 11.38 @ 125.Went back to try a boost launch and I got to the top af first @6000 rpm and bounced the rev limiter in my chip.
I don't think it was slipping because it still tried to pull after each cutout.I let off and roll back into it and it goes into second and then third like normal.Shift is crisp.I tried a rolling start and still same thing.Added some tranny fluid,because I thought it might be uncovering the pickup,same thing.I also noticed that at part throttle,first gear was holding longer.Not slipping just shifting late,but firm.I could goose the gas and it would set up and try to go until it hit 6000.Then I tried loosening the TV cable and it shifted,just real sloppy and the motor nosed over on the 1-2 2-3 shifts.I even changed the fluid and filter.The fluid was still reddish and did not have an abnormal amount of clutch material in it.Did not smell burnt either.Went out and tried again...same thing.I was able to force the 1-2 shift and 2-3 was still right.
Please someone help me figure out what to check.I have never had a problem with this trans in 4 years.I should have been running 10.80s if it were not for the 1-2 problem.I have little experience with the 200 4R,but I have done alot of Ford AOD and C4 rebuilds as well as TH400s.Hopefully it is something that will not require any serious work.
