I was recently told that taking a 200R4 over 6000rpm is bad for it.
Is this true and if so what is the fix.
I normally run a 6600 chip and occasionally a 6800.
Thanks
I had an 85 CR 2004R in my 75 Monza with a 327 and would shift that at 7200. Just had to make sure the direct return spring pack had all the springs and not the low rpm pack like the BRF's have. Never had a problem with it for 5 years and it went into an 81 Camaro behind a 10.00:1 454 for a few more years after I tore the car apart.
You need to run a very stiff pump slide spring for high rpm application. Its worth doing a few other mods to the 4th clutches to reduce some drag when going that high
High rpm can hurt the hi drum return spring assembly in the 2004r when the trans is in first gear. The drum turns backwards at almost 3 times engine speed .We are working on a correction.
